Hey JR thanks for the good info.I especially like the part on your first year stats.Thats what I hope to do,im single with no children so I want to get out there and stay out there for a while to make money and get experience. One question.you're out 3/4 weeks...how much downtime does that earn you? Also I have not finished training...haven't even started.Im in process...have my class A permit and two endorsements.Plan on attending Driving school late Febuary/early March.

Not at Abilene, anything less than 3000 miles per week and I get grumpy. With 72mph trucks, 4000+ weeks are not unheard of here.

Lonesome, line and JohnBoy Thank this.

1 day off for every 6 days out. They like drivers to stay out at least 2 weeks and they don't like the truck sitting for more than 10 days off.

JohnBoy and lil penny Thank this.

Good write up driver. I've met several drivers from there and they all seemed happy, every one that ive congee across has been fairly professional on the road as well

Ah-HAH. Thanks for this. I have had drivers from other companies insist that Abilene either had been bought by Large Trucking Company Incorporated, or was in the process of being bought by Large Trucking Company Incorporated. I knew it was BS, but I couldn't cite chapter and verse. Now I can.

    JohnBoy and Gwh1184 Thank this.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news....

They will tell you to go back and re-apply after that one ticket is aged for 1 yr.

I never went back. I bought my truck 6 months later, and have my own MC...and I dont need to "fill out no more stinkin' applications"

Look for a seasonal gig, if you dont want to do OTR (I did not).
