I really enjoy reading all of your adventures. Some days, I can't wait to get my own truck. Days like yesterday and today (and maybe even tomorrow) I am really glad it's someone else's dime fixing this thing. Two nights in a hotel for a recall (didn't I read a thread somewhere about 2012 Cascadias and maintenance issues???) is gonna hurt bad enough, even with breakdown pay.

Maybe in a year or so, things will look different. You guys (all of you!) are an excellent source of information and I am definitely keeping these threads bookmarked!

The 2012 Cascadias are a nightmare of maintenance issues. Got my first one with 21 miles on it, in the shop 8 times in the first 6 weeks. Five different computer failures, two bad sensors, one bad EGR valve. And that was all before it had 5000 miles on it.

Got my second Cascadia, also a 2012, after my first one was wrecked at a Flying J while I was asleep... by a Schneider driver no less :biggrin_2559:

It never got above 6.2 mpg and the transmission had a mind of it's own, and loved to take random naps.

How (in)accurate is the mpg reading on the little information display on my 2010 Century?

It will vary from truck to truck, only way to really know is hand calculate it.

If I reset mine after I fill up its pretty accurate. Even down to the gallons when I fill up. But I have Cascadia also..

Ok. My reason for asking is because for my first month and a half, I ran pretty much all east coast. Mostly within PA to GA and back up to IN. My readout stayed around 7.2. I have been running between MN, TX, and AR this whole winter and it's been reading below 6.9.

I've put 161 miles on my 2012; dropped 2 injectors 120 miles in, the other 41 was getting to the Freightliner dealer here, where I've been for the last 26 hours or so, and am looking at probably another 12 until they get the recall performed. First truck, first load...learning lots of new things this week!

Not unexpected. Winter blend diesel fuel is thicker and reduces mileage a bit.

In general, your fuel mileage will suck on any day that ends in "y" :biggrin_2559:
