keep your receipt for the motel......and btw, you're a better man than I.....I probably would have googled the nearest Freightliner dealer and drove over (If I still had some oil on the stick)

You should have shut the door on that clown and then told him the door is stuck. Make noises and act like you are trying to open the door and then open it up 5 minutes later

Hey DFO, great thread, have read it from start finish and have recently started reading your older thread. So, I am currently a Detective with a local police department, attended driving school in 07, drove for approximately 6 months before returning to LE. I attended a refresher in January of this year and have been researching my options. I was wondering, once I have a full year of OTR under my belt will Schneider require me to be a company driver for a certain period of time before they will LP me on the choice lease?
-
I talked to them about the Choice program...you can apply after 6 months as a Schneider driver or after 1 year of OTR experience elsewhere.

Also if you must sign on a lease do so on a year lease only so that you're not stuck to it because quite honestly their lease is a ripoff just like any other. The only reason their lease seems better than say CR or PRIME is because they have alot more freight to make you earn enough money to pay off their lease. If you are able to purchase your own used truck from a dealer somewhere then that would be the best choice as leasing from SNI will run you about 4500 a month insurance and all.. whilst payments for a used truck elsewhere like lets say.. LOne Mountain truck leasing would cost you about 1500 a month plus insurance come to maybe 2000 a month. Thats still a great deal better than 4500.
at least you can take a day or 2 off and not feel like you're being raped for taking time off. I tell you if your credit is good and I presume as an officer of the law it would be then you should look into purchasing elsewhere. Lone Mountain Leasing is a decent outfit that Ive met people from whom have purchased from there and finished paying off leases also PACCAR truck sales is another decent place to buy a used truck. Good Luck Brother your heart will thank you for taking him out of the constantly stressful LE environment.1tidefan Thanks this. -
Well this morning I was planning out my loads, there was ONE load I really had my eye on that was relaying through Charlotte that would have set me up for 2-3 more nice loads. As I was opening up multiple tabs getting the loads planned out making sure they would all work together, I go to assign it... and it fails saying DRIVER ALREADY ASSIGNED. OH COME ON. That load was just SITTING on the board for at least 3 days. Then within the 3 minute period of me opening up 2 more tabs, someone grabbed it. I should have pulled the friggin trigger!!!! Oh well, **** happens, lol.
Anyway, sat around here finishing up my restart today, refreshed and refreshed the load board all day long looking for something decent to get me up to NC for the next loads that I wanted, but just nothing there. So, I've got a different one planned out that's headed up to Pittston, PA. Got a fair bit of time on it so I can run 8 hour days and keep my hours up, and then hopefully in the time it takes to get up there I can find something to get me back south! -
I really wish they'd go a bit more advanced and build a load planner of some sort into the whole system. You could click on loads to add them to the planner, see them all on one screen, and be sure you're planning it out right before you make the decision. And then once you're sure, you can click something and book the entire set all at once, assuming they're all still available.
I'd be willing to bet that at least half of their problems with loads being late and such are the result of ICs rapidly clicking on loads without planning for fear of losing out on them.
