I did the math on the second fill up today, nearly 7 mpg. I reset the trip info on the dash once i fueled up as well. Still reading 6.9 mpg. Rpm's are around 1300 and the turbo is making less than 10 pounds of boost on flat to semi flat ground at 70.

I dozed off for a bit and am now wide awake again. Hopefully can go back to sleep soon lol. Oh well, helloooooo truckersreport.

Glad you found something to get moving. One thing to remember is plan loads THROUGH the weekend if at all possible. I'm bad about not doing that, and then sitting around during the weekend because I failed to grab a decent load, and nothing new is being added. Rarely does new decent stuff come up on the load boards on the weekends.

Try dropping half a gear more than you need to when pulling the hills - a little more RPM will probably help with MPG pulling the hills, and should burn less fuel than having to load the engine more at a lower RPM. This helped my MPG with my ISX. It took a while to break the habit from the company truck of "PUT IT ON THE FLOOR" when climbing hills. If I'm pulling a hill I won't keep my foot on the floor to maintain speed, even if the engine can pull it like this. I'll start dropping gears until the truck finds the spot where it is happy, not me. Why do I care, I'm in no hurry, I've got nothing to prove with how fast I can climb the hill. I really need to install a mechanical boost gauge so I can find the optimal amount of throttle to keep it at when pulling hills, though. Right now its just kinda guesswork based on how things sound.

Lately I've been trying REALLY hard to keep my RPMs down. I'm shifting at 1300 and with the way the ratio gaps are on the 13 speed each shift drops about 300 RPM so it drops back down to 1000 after each shift. Very noticeable MPG gains for me driving like this. Still need to replace my MAP sensor though. Maybe that's still eating some MPG from me. Who knows.

Your right about breaking habits from the company truck. I have been trying very hard to shift out around 1300 but I have caught myself letting it run up to 1500. Will try the half a gear lower on the hills and see how that does. Certainly a learning experience with the ISX. But I am happy with how it pulls.

I have been watching the boost gauge like a dang hawk. I can see it immediately in the instant mpg info. As soon as it goes over 10 pounds the mileage starts to drop off. Gonna take a few weeks to drive the right way for this engine and to break the habits of a company truck.

I knew I made a mistake not booking the two loads my wife found, but at the same time I did not want to take a chance of being late to pick them up. Oh well, at least I am going to be moving and not sitting. 13k down to New Orleans and a 20 mile deadhead to pick up the next one going to Maryland.

Where you headed in Georgia? I was up in DC last night as well around 9:15 or so. I'm going to give all of you boys a hint since I used to work with you lot. If a load of Insulation out of Pennasauken, NJ ever comes up on the board for Dow Chemical.. DO NOT take it. They load flatbed and van there, and we sat for nine hours yesterday for two stack of the ####. There was a Schneider driver there and he ended up getting ###### due to E-logs.

I found a good paying, light load heading from Ohio up into Maine... shoulda looked beforehand to find something decent going out though LOL. The rates SUCK up here for anything not staying local. Might end up breaking even just to get back to the midwest.

I will have to disagree with 60 mph not wearing you out.I did it for 10 years and it is very taxing on the mind and body.Because even at 60 there are plenty out there running 55mph and very frustrating to pull out and pass, time after time. And at the end of the day you will be at least 125 miles behind me.

10 years in a governed or ungoverned truck? That's the big difference for me. I can go faster if I want. Passing is no problem, though usually I can go a long time before I have to pass someone. I get much more tired running 65, getting stuck behind governed trucks taking 5 minutes to pass a 64mph truck, etc. To each his own I guess. 60 in a governed truck that can only pass at 63 sucks big time though I'll agree with that.
