I stumbled across this thread this evening sitting in Springdale AR. and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have thought about contacting them to see about the IC program but never did. I live in the Roanoke Va. area and have heard conflicting stories about freight in that area. Do they have trucks a little older that the one you have or is it pretty much newer Cascadia's?
The fifth wheel if I am correct and you haven't figured it out by now you should be able to take your thumb and push it to the side and pull just a bit and then you can pull it on out without holding the tab.
Is the maintenance deducted weekly or monthly?
I have read some of the IC's blogs on Kevin Rutherford's website Let's Truck Now.com and enjoy the blogs. You might know some of the people on that site as well.
How does it work since you cancelled the HD load? I hope you don't get charged for that.
Hope to read more and have a safe trip.

I finally did get the 5th wheel figured out, you do have to pull up on the handle, then pull it out, then pull it up further to lock it in place. When you pull up on the handle it automatically moves the little latch out of the way. Unfortunately the final motion to lock the release handle all the way out usually involves your sleeve hitting the underside of the plate on the trailer which is usually covered with grime and grease.
The maintenance fee is deducted weekly (mine is 220/week)
Since the load got rescheduled and was out of my control they were happy to pull it from me. Nothing was mentioned to me about being charged for that, so lets hope not LOL. I highly doubt it though, the charge is really there for when IC's screw up and they have to bring in another driver from somewhere else to repower the load. From what was discussed during the training, it seems like they are willing to work with you as much as possible as long as you keep in constant communication with them about issues you are having that could affect the load.Grijon, Kutina and stevep1977 Thank this. -
Georgia pacific is in big "pain in the ###" island

I always check the prices at the OC if we are going to be near by but they use flyin j pilot fuel. And truth is if I am paying the same rate i would rather get points and showers. Just me though. But check the daily price at the OC cause they change them almost daily.

Don't know if everyone knows but all fuel prices are posted on crossroads.

Screw Big Island i hate that place lol

Big Island rocks.

I used to haul chips in to Big Island back in 2001 and it was a pain on that part and then I would see the other trucks trying to get loaded out of there with rolls of paper and they hated that place. I see it has not changed any. I watched a truck and trailer turn over after it got loaded and left. It was about a mile up from the plant near the school. I was following him up the road and then as he went around the curve he kept leaning and did not quit till he landed on his side. That stuff is heavy and they had to bring in a wrecker to pick up the rolls out of a field. Curvy roads and heavy loads do not go together that great.

Well made it down to Albany, GA from my pickup in NC today. It was a LONG day running hundreds of miles of 2 lane backroads through GA but honestly it wasn't too bad, just tiresome going through the little towns and varying speed a bunch.
I need to get my headlights adjusted, had several people flash me thinking I had my high beams on, and when I DO have my highbeams on they are illuminating the tops of trees (LOL)... I'm not kidding.
When I checked earlier after stopping through Charlotte, there wasn't much paying good heading away from this area, but there was this one little paper load that picks up tomorrow and delivers Friday AM that pays very good especially since its a 200 mile run, half of which is me deadheading to the pickup. The delivery puts me closer to Atlanta and there always seems to be freight headed out of there so hopefully I can catch something out of there on Friday morning after the delivery. But I don't really care where I get a load out of, I will deadhead across the country if I can find a load paying good enough to make up for the deadhead. Depending on how my hours look I may try to get back for a restart this weekend but honestly I don't think I will need it, especially since tomorrow will be a very short day with just that little run after I deliver in the morning. If I can I will probably try to run at least through Sunday so I can have a "full week" to total up my numbers and see how they look. So far everything is looking pretty #### good for my first week as an o/o. I'll post up numbers some time this weekend hopefully. Still trying to get an average on fuel mileage on this truck, hard to say since I killed it running backroads all the way from SC up to NC with that 78k paper load... that didn't help things too much.Kutina Thanks this.
