Curious as to, if you completed the lease, how would they ever know? Assuming that Schneider is still on all the paperwork, would a shop even touch do these changes?

Obviously there would be a huge liability if you ever defaulted on the lease and had to turn the truck in, so the risk is too high IMO. Just wondering if it would be possible if you were willing to take that risk.

Just going to throw this out there. I did visit with Fitzgerald Gliders the first week of July, talked with one of their salespeople and got the grand tour of the facility. The Columbia's are spec'd as a well dressed fleet truck. Full gauges, power everything and a fridge and that's it. 3.58 gears, 230WB and a 10 speed, add 3K for a 13speed. They only had two mid roofs on the lot in fleet color white and they don't expect to see any more for some time and no condo's. They only had several Coronado's in condo's and as many mid roof's as you like in all colors. They are spec'd in a basic O/O specs and only a 260WB with full running boards and boxes. The thing with the Freighliners is they have one spec sheet and that's it. You cannot pick and choose any other options. I did not check into the Pete's and KW's they have because it's too much money, even as a glider. They promote different engine colors for the Pete's and KW's but not the Freightliners. Engine is going to be Detroit Grey. They will install a Cat engine into the Pete's and KW's but I never inquired. 2500.00 deposit down, add roughly 15 working days for your truck to be built. they can add an Evolution Tripak for 11500.00. I do have the full spec sheet line sheets if anyone is interested.

They only work with GE capital Financing and if this was your first truck purchase or less than average credit then they would ask for outside financing or a very large down payment.

How long does Schnider keep their company trucks? Miles or time?

guessing its based on mileage? Although seeing fewer 2010's around. So it might be age as well.

Miles, time, and cost to operate.

The goal is to get the avg age of a fleet truck down to 3.5 years.

Very few company trucks will see more than a million miles anymore.

Trucks that are in the shop a lot don't stick around as long.

Nope they'd have no idea. That's the risk I'd be taking though, and it could haunt me if I ever did turn the truck back in as they could come after me for that. No reason it wouldn't be possible though, I have the tools and computer software to do it. Just not worth the risk.

Don't want a new Cummins. CM2250 is apparently having issues with wear related to carbon packing. Probably all thanks to, you know it, EGR!!

Hahaha yeah I've been to that one, backed in in that little area just outside the gate so my truck would be in view of the guard shack for the night.

So, theoretically, the Brat & I will be together for at least another year :D

Unless they offer me a Lonestar (hah!!) or maybe a shiny new KW.

Depends on which one. If its the CM2250 me personally I would pass on it. If its the newest!! CM2350 then I might consider it. Apparently they've resolved a lot of the issues the CM2250 had in this engine and are seeing impressive MPG out of it.

There is another member here "dougals right foot" that has a MX13 in his truck and after getting some initial issues worked out of it, since the last time I talked to him he has said its been performing very well and gets great MPG out of it. Although I have no idea about those engines and don't know if anything has changed between the engine that is in his truck and what is available in brand new trucks now.
