Whoa, DFO! Sounds like some good rest is in order!

That area around Chambersburg can be a PIA. I blindly followed Jill's instructions one time last winter onto some goat path in that area that had be on tiny little switchback roads up over the hill and through the woods. I was just glad that the roads were clear at the time, since switchback goat path+steep grades+snow+rookie driver=no bueno. Suffice to say, that was a valuable learning experience and I paid A LOT more attention to routing after that!

That's the problem with PA, many times your only options to get out of an area are to go WAY out of route or goatpath it. I seriously considered going all the way up to Carlisle and then getting on the turnpike there... but honestly I can goatpath with the best of 'em, won't kill me to do it from time to time lol.

I here ya. I grew up in PA but moved to NC when I was about 14. Every time I go home I always think to myself "day - um your roads suck people!" Lol

Yeah my favorite is seeing all the little local trucking/construction companies that are located in the towns these goathpaths connect... sitting there thinking to myself "you mean you deal with getting in and out of this crap on a daily basis??!!" LOL

I run the goat paths when I'm light..otherwise go around to the main roads.

Like DFO said I feel for the local guys..the hell with running these roads everyday.

DFO, I am sorry you had to deal with that, but I really appreciate you sharing. You write so well, it's a pleasure to read regardless of content. Of course, you add your own touch of humor, too...

    Thanks :)

Thanks for sharing DFO. Reading that makes me glad I'm a midwest regional driver. I don't know how much of the PA goatpaths I could handle.

Well my APU is starting and running fine now... we will see if it fixed itself or not. Maybe some gunk got stuck on the fuel pickup or something yesterday...
