Nice looking truck. That should be all that matters even if the dyno and oil sample comes back showing something wrong you should still buy it just because it looks good. Hope it works out for you.

Not totally true here. CAT's can get good fuel mileage depending on the fuel codes. And not doing 75 up 6% grades =P. It is possible tho to get decent fuel mileage out of it. =D

Kind of agree with this, Depending on the price and where it falls you can buy it and overhaul it and she will run for YEARS with little to no issues. Worth it just in that aspect.

Best of luck to you, DFO. Beautiful truck, lots of room, and pre-emissions. I hope it all works out for you.

Schneider told me maximum wheelbase of 270". A CAT can get decent fuel mileage if you drive it sensibly. I was running back and forth between NC and CA . I was getting about 6.6 mpg with a gross weight of about 77,000 lbs with a 379 without a full roof fairing pulling a dry van in winter across I-40. I have a 6 nz / 550 hp.

I will guess that KW has a 250" wheelbase. Those studios are heavy.

My CAT has 1.1 million miles. It gives me very little trouble. It did have the head replaced under warranty at 447k miles.
The only engine repair I can remember in the last few hundred thousand miles : I replaced the oxygen sensor.

Good luck on your new truck. It looks good.

True but I was referring to the fact that some people buy it because it is a good looking truck and not have a bit of trouble but some people will do all the work and still have problems.

    mickimause Thanks this.

1.3m miles, don't have paperwork so who knows what work has or has not been done on the truck. Dyno and oil sample results will give the real story about what kind of shape it is in. I crawled all over it and it seems to have been very well cared for.

For some reason I recall 260" being the wheelbase limit. The dealer has it listed as a 232" wheelbase, just by looking at it I'm thinking that's a little short, but it could be.

They aren't super picky about the trucks. SNI's website says it has to be under 10 years old. I called and asked an ICA about getting an older truck long ago and they told me basically it had to pass DOT and be able to work with the e-logs. That's all they really care about. Rest is just nitpicky stuff that doesn't really matter. Just depends on who you talk with. A recruiter will probably spout off something completely different than someone who actually works inside SNI and knows what they are talking about.

Nope been home for around a week.

I would not be the least bit surprised if I get BETTER mileage out of this truck than I do my current truck with the ISX. Might take a little tuning but I expect 7+. Seems most of those 4-5 MPG CATs were the later post-emissions models. I wouldn't expect stellar MPG out of a 600 horse 3406 either, lol. But single turbo C15 without any emissions restrictions can do pretty good.

First thing I did after I verified the truck was still for sale was got the RidDig report. It came up good but did have an accident listed back in 2012 so I looked it up. It had the accident number and I was able to buy the accident report online from GA DOT. According to the report the driver drifted out of his lane and tagged the front of a four wheeler with his trailer. Truck wasn't involved so it's all good. Wasn't exactly cheap but well worth the piece of mind to have that info.

CAT wasn't able to dyno it today so the anticipation builds... they should get to it Monday hopefully. How will it turn out?!

Fingers crossed for you! It'll turn out the way it's supposed to, but sometimes the wait is frustrating...
