If you are o/o or l/o for SNI you pay for fuel taxes, but it's automatically handled by SNI, it gets deducted (or added if you've paid too much) to your settlement. They track your fuel purchases through your fuel card, mileage per state, etc., and handle that.

yea, I guess though I need to refer more to choice, cause I seem forget that they do per mile leases also, doing the dispatching for them.

Everyone that is an o/o or l/o for SNI that is pretty active in this Schneider section runs on the choice board I believe... there was one guy that ran on mileage for the bulk division (and leased a truck from SFI) but he decided to terminate his lease early for some reason. I don't think I've ever seen anyone post on here that is running on the mileage board for dry van.

Never really thought about it, I doubt I could get a better discount than I could by using the card SNI gives me and getting their discount right? Usually it's a pretty good discount.

Also DFO you'd have to send in fuel receipts all the time for fuel taxes.

In order to succeed on the choice program you really need to know how to schedule your loads. If you don't have a really good grasp on trip planning and using you time efficiently you will struggle. Also if you insist on running in areas with poor freight and rates just because you like that area you probably won't do well either. But really the keys are to go where the good freight is, schedule efficiently and have revenue goals. I've seen certain experts talk about cost control, cost control, cost control, but in reality 1/2 of your costs are fixed and the other half (fuel, maintenance, etc) can only be minimized slightly, not completely. The one thing you do have total control over is revenue.

Another really important thing though is knowing the Schneider freight system, customers, etc. Schneider company drivers switching over have a leg up because they already are familiar with freight lanes and customers. Drivers coming on from other companies have that to learn as well which is another thing to consider. Might not be a bad idea to run system OTR as a company driver for 6 months or get to know the qualcomm stuff and the customers on Schneiders dime and not your own.

Don't know what they pay, haven't heard much about that program, have heard a few good comments about it here and there, don't recall hearing anything bad.
