And when you install the new line use some anti seize to prevent it from happening again. Good luck...

The only reason I didn't go Mav IC was because they didn't offer it for the temp control division. It's flatbed and glass only, neither of which I have any desire of doing LOL. The people who complain about low miles in Mav IC are the ones who constantly turn down loads. I have a couple buddies doing it and they're making a killing - but they almost never turn anything down, either.

Maverick is a great company to work for, although I wouldn't recommend temp control, things are just too screwy over there in my opinion. If you don't mind doing flatbed or glass, you'll do great.

I am loving the Choice IC so far, but I'll be 100% honest with you and everyone else here: I would not be a company driver here until their either lift the idle restrictions or install APUs on the company trucks. I talked to a bunch of drivers while in orientation, and most of them have learned to "rough it" when it comes to temps and such in the truck while sleeping. I refuse to do that - there is technology all over the place to allow a driver to be comfortable while sleeping in his truck. That being said, the company as a whole seems really decent. I like the company people I work with and the freedom is wonderful.

Tim I appreciate your info , I hope it gos great and not that it matters but why do they make temp control drivers stay out so long at Maverick? Did you buy a truck from sni or outside source? I agree with your comments on the apu , we had them at Averitt, you live in that truck, gotta be comfortable so you can rest !! I'm just trying to figure out what direction I should go in , sorry for so many questions , Thanks. Jeff Barrs

Got the truck back together today. Left Cummins with my wallet about $275 lighter after purchasing the tube + air freight, then a new manifold pressure sensor and a new exhaust backpressure sensor as well.

Of course I checked the backpressure sensor to make sure it was the right one, but not the MAP sensor since it was sealed in the box. Got back home and of course the MAP sensor isn't the right one for my truck. Hopefully when I leave home I can get a load that will take me through Greensboro so i can swing by and swap out for the correct sensor that I need.

The good news is that the new tube threaded in to the manifold OK and seems to have sealed up alright, no leaks that I can feel. Glad that I didn't have to do any drilling or tapping on the manifold that would have been a real mess. I'll thread it out once more before I take off for next week and coat it in some copper anti-seize, the copper stuff has always held up really well to the heat from what I have seen.

So, no telling if anything is fixed until I hit the road with a heavy load again. After that the only thing left in the EGR system that hasn't been replaced is the EGR valve itself, and what I believe is a temperature sensor, but those rarely go bad from what I have read.

If anything else shows up I'll just hold off until my Inline adapter and the software get here and I can hook the thing up to my computer and really see what is going on. I'm hoping that I can use that adapter to be able to enable high idle, etc., on the engine without having to pay Cummins to do it themselves.

That would be interesting to see what it says when you get it on your computer. I had problems with my company truck EGR system for some time before they figured out how to fix it. Not sure exactly what sensor they replaced but they also had to clean one out that they didn't have the part for to replace it. Truck worked much better afterward. Mainly would loose power on hills and hauling heavy loads before it was fixed.

Yeah EGR is such a friggin joy. The computer equipment should be worth its weight in gold though, I wish it got here this weekend but coming from China it probably won't get here for another week or so.

For me this ISX is a really good engine though, at least for an emissions-era engine. Old enough to not have the DEF system, and pretty darn easy for me to work on. A pain at times, yes, but compared to some of these other engines working on this thing is a cake walk. A good engine for o/o that likes to get their hands dirty. A terrible engine for someone that doesn't want to work on it themselves, you'll get eaten alive by stealerships!

Hope the truck is ready to run good though because I just booked my loads through Friday.

Headed from NC up to OH, back down to NC, then down deep into GA. Nothin over 10k, weather looks good, getting into the south, I'm excited!! Ready for a break from PA and the snow LOL.

I hate to say it and jinx myself but it seems freight is slowly picking back up again after a slow January, seeing more loads from my favorite customers, more loads on the board in general. Gonna try harder to stay ahead of myself with loads so I stay rolling, that bit me in the butt the past 2 weeks, freight was slow in the areas that I wanted to run, and I got lazy and didn't watch the load board enough so I'd find myself delivering a load without anywhere to go after that. Eats up time you could be moving, for sure. Hopefully won't be running as much deadhead either, but we'll see about that lol.

Calling for snow in Carolinas next week. Not much but it doesn't take alot for those drivers to wreck. After that temps go up to the 60s.
