Day 2 stuck at the truck stop up here in VA. Hope this **** is gone gone gone tomorrow. We were still getting dumped on up here this morning so I messaged in saying I still wouldn't be moving today as it was just impossible. Never heard back, they must be throwing up there hands and giving up. Nothing could get through the truck stop, everyone getting stuck. Spent a good 2-3 hours this morning helping drivers try to get moving. I was apparently the only guy with a shovel, if I would have charged 3 bucks every time I loaned that thing out today I would be a friggin billionaire. About 2 hours ago they finally started "plowing" the lot, which really meant scraping a couple inches of snow off a couple inches of ice that are still all over the lot. After that spent the rest of the day BSing with the driver next to me, watching the everyone get stuck (like I said, spent all morning trying to help, eventually it just got to a point where there was nothing more I could do to help), and playing cards. At least it was something to pass the time.

Can anyone tell me if Charlotte has opened back up now? I've only gotten 1 message from them today, so I don't know what the deal is. Really really hoping I can get down there tomorrow, I've had enough of sitting here.

Just called the Charlotte service desk. Both gates are still closed. And no plans to open till Richard comes in.

Back in 2011 up at i55 truckstop in boilingbrook IL. After the big storm shut the down the state for 3 days, the fuel desk was charging $5 to use there shovel.

So I guess the service road is still blocked up with stuck trucks?

I got a call today, said to stay home again, the OC is closed. Roads here are still horrible. We got blasted again this morning with heavy snow. Sun came out late this afternoon but temps are in the low 20's tonight so whatever melted has turned to ice.

They told us the plan is to start back up tomorrow, but we will see how that goes. Did you use your ice cleats while out in the parking lot? If so how did they work?

read the green bible, you are not required to log posttrip as on duty, only flag it.

while a flag is appropriate in the old days of paper logs and 15 minute intervals, in today's world of e-logs and company policy, showing the actual amount of time required to do a walk around is the norm.

been here at SNI since Choice started in 2007, have yet to do a posttrip as on duty, and talked to FMCSA about it and they too said it is not required. but thats why SNI loves company drivers to become ICs. they already have them Schneiderized. Meaning, ICs at schneider are nothing more than company drivers with truck payments.
