    Varies...

    Usually 5-10 mins...

Haven't used them in the year I've been an IC, I'm speaking of my experience as a company driver...

    Roll on....

When you are booking your loads, does it tell you if the load is "suppose" to be a driver/lumper unload? I say "suppose" to because I understand things have a tendency to change once you show up.

Sometimes in the remarks, usually just says live unload and you find out when you get there it is a Lumper unload...

If it is a driver unload it shows that in the rate breakdown...

    Roll on....

I apologize for asking all of these lumper-related questions, but I just came off of a load that was a lumper unload and, since I cannot remember seeing these questions address on here before, I thought I would ask.

Man, I had one that said "driver unload" one time, looked at the remarks (after I picked it) and it said shipper would not pay for lumper...so, I was like, 'oh well, you picked it, you unload it. Soooooooo.......got to the place, dude says, "you gonna hire a lumper?" I say, "nope. Says here I gotta do it." So he says, "okeky dokey, knock yourself out."
Well, after about 4-5 hours of unloading a floor loaded paper towel trailer, another dude (main guy) comes up and says, "We shut down in an hour and you're not even half way done yet." I say (I was kinda chapped at the time), "why don't you call the shipper or Schneider and ask them why they have a diver doing this and maybe we can speed things up a bit."
Well, he called both I guess, and came back to me and said, "come back in the morning and finish up." I says, "okey dokey, will do."
Soooooo......by the time I got back to my truck, I had a message to call my ICA. So, I call. They want to know what the heck I'm doing unloading a trailer by myself. I say, "because that's what the bill says, and that's what the remarks say on the Q-Com. And I figured if I picked the load, I had to suck it up." Soooooo......phone calls were made. The next day I got a lumper to finish the load, and I got paid $350 for detention.

The moral of the story is; don't unload trailers....ever. Unless someone tells you by voice or Q-Com you have to. Also, 99% of the remaks stuff in the Q-com are BS.
