Precisely my thoughts. Clear, concise hand-signals only...

Chalk it up to a learning experience, which I'm sure you will. It's surely disheartening, but hey....I've said before that I can't count the times I've been luckier than smart in my life, not to mention trucking!

Glad the other driver was cool about it.

Yep hind sight is 20/20 and if we could do 'do overs' hand signals is what we would probably do... we have the hand held CB now - and that is working - and needless to say everything going backwards is done in super slow motion right now - LOL! We aren't letting it stop us though - <____> happens and we go on.

This load/run we are on now - we dropped in Burley ID yesterday and don't pick up (again in Burley) until tomorrow morning. Gary will get a 34 out of it (my 70 is doing fine, so I don't need one) and today we have off... which is cool since its our 28th wedding anniversary. Gary's cousin works at the drop yard, and is leaving his pickup for us to run around town in. So a day off on our Anniversary - couldn't have planned it better if we had tried!!

Happy anniversary! Sorry about the accident. I agree with hand signals. If you can't see your helper, worse could have happened!!! Be safe. I am proud of you both and my hubby is now thinking of teaming with me...!

  6. Wow, here I thought we were the only ones! Lol
Hubby backed into a trailer in Sppleton, Wi.
Same thing-stop apparently did not register between brain and ear quick enough!
No more damage than you see on so many central trailers we pick up ( now we know how that happens) BUT this was someone else's!!
    Only 1000. Deductible, but...,
Funny thing is this happened a month ago and our DM has not gotten us back to WVC yet for DD.
I did get to buy cherries in Washington state from the shipper/20pds for $15. Of course, there is no way we can eat that many, but we have shared along the way!

    Lady K Thanks this.

If you can NOT see your guide,

    you ARE doing something wrong.

Please be careful using a spotter.

There is a ton of free info about it on the web..............

Yeah I looked at our contract - it says 1000, but the safety lady and the 'booklet' says 1500... going to get a copy of the insurance to make sure one way or the other - $500 is a chunk of change difference!! Also you can hit any terminal for the DD (so we were told) and we are heading to Fontana... SLC is not my favorite place - LOL!

Hand signals are fine when your straight... but you need someone watching the blnd side, and most of the time you can't see them if they are in a location that you need them to watch.... lol
