It has been a while since I dropped in. First congratulations!!!! That is one lucky little guy!

Now onto more greasy matters. Where are you detained for the longest? Ill be calling Central to see if they are hiring in my area. Just wondered what places take the longest in your experience.

The longest we have gotten detention for is at a 'beer' run... they didn't have the product ready and we had to wait overnight for them to run more... There was also over the 4th of July - we were at the pick up, but the planner didn't include in our information the pick up number. So we had to wait until the next morning (the 5th) when they got to work to get it... we got paid for that one too. All in all they (the shippers/recievers) are all pretty good - we are starting to learn to just 'go with the flow' - LOL - but we are also a team. So if we are held for 4 hours at WalMart we don't have to crawl out the gate to spend our 10 to get our hours back - we just switch drivers... and yes we have had to do that (and Klingon did the crawl as a solo).

Central so far is pretty good - it has its points, but they all do. It is a 'training' company, so there is always a 'flow' of people going through... and they are use to people coming and going - that is their business too. However they will work with you too if there are problems - you just have to let them know you are having a problem BEFORE it gets real bad.

So if you choose Central - you will get out of it what you put in. I think they are just as good/bad as any other starter company out there (but then I haven't worked for any other company - LOL). We will be sticking with them for at least 3 years (at least that's the plan) as we signed a leash - errr - lease. So if you come aboard - we are in truck # 21116

A lot of produce loads you will be held up for. You check in and then they go and pick the produce from the fields, wash it, pack it, chill it, then load you. Also some of the meat plants will have your appointment time and once you get there they make you take a 10hr break before you are allowed to hook to your trailer. No matter what time you get there you have to take a 10. Doesn't apply to teams, thank god! Like LadyK said, Walmarts are also famous for detaining you and fudging your time card.

Some shippers/receivers are better than others. It's just all part of the game.

Chompi I know I keep hearing the mandatory 10 hour thing, but have yet to experience it. Even at JBS/Swift ( meat not trucking co.) where the QC said I would be detained...

I was held at a Food Lion D/C for 10 hours, but that was due to them taking over for a D/C damaged by tornados.. Sigma held me for almost 8 hours and Versacold in SC is notorious for delaying you several hours..

Walmart D/C's are always good for a 2 hour nap.. :biggrin_25518:

Well for those of you that might be interested - we have decided to remain with our current DM. We did tell her that we would give her 2 weeks to improve our miles or we would go dedicated. They improved... so we kept our word. My concern mainly was that the improvement wouldn't stick once we stayed and then our window of opportunity with Dole would close - but it sounds like that window will remain open a crack IF we have problems again.

I must admit I do like the variety (for the most part). Different destinations and routes and products. Now for her to keep up the good work :yes2557:

How cool!! We got to meet up with Jess and JJ... <waving HI>... Jess recognised us and came up to say HI. We were both at the Pilot in Hesperia, CA. (names added to signature line) So glad we decided to stop there and spend the night - we are running 'local' for some home time scheduled this coming week... so there is plenty of time on this load as well... so we enjoyed a 'movie' night. Now cruising to Casa Mesa, AZ - and deliver at 0300 tomorrow. Running like this is nice - time and not pushing - but the miles just aren't there when we do this. So it will be back to the grindstone after the home time. We won't be scheduling home time until Thanksgiving after this... 2 months out... that should help the pocketbook - LOL!

Freight will get really slow in January and February. This is when most drivers take their time off.
