Well we had to take our truck into the shop for some recall work, and a leak in an axle seal... We took it to a 'Freightliner' dealer to get this work done. Thinking of course that it wouldn't take long... HA! We have a 2012 Cascadia, and it needs a 3.25" socket (or something like that) to pull/fix the hub/axle seal... And guess what?? The dealership didn't have one! AND they didn't know the specs for this repair... What torque etc... 'Its new' they said. They had almost every service tech looking at our truck and scratching their heads. During all of this we had a load waiting on us... Sigh... So now we had to call our DM and let her know we had a catch in our giddy-up. I have a feeling if we weren't on a dedicated fleet... or if there were more teams on this fleet, we would have just had to wait on the truck, however we had a load waiting and our DM said there wasn't anyone else to take it. What ever the reason ey (the company) rented us a truck from Penske and off we go!
I had to they to remember how to do a paper log and figure out a recap (since we have been running on our recaps for the last couple weeks)... Bt it came back AND the truck isn't governed at 65, but at 72! You have no idea just how tempting that is...LOL!
I do miss OUR truck though... I almost feel like we are camping or roughing it. No fridge, no mattress pad, no CB... I'm glad the company did this though... At least we are earning while the truck is being worked on, so it's a win/win... They get their load delivered and we earn money WITHOUT having to pay excess milage![]()

I've seen a lot of that "scratching the head" thing at Freightliner dealerships in the past 3 months.

Wedge Thanks this.

You might be scratching your head when you get the bill. Doesnt sound good. Good Luck..
-
we'll see when we get back there... Gary called yesterday and they are STILL working on it
THAT'S what concerns me! I don't think Central will continue this rental for another run... Just to keep us moving. I sure am glad the did though... For us to be down this whole time would have put a big dent in our pocket!!
-
I feel for you guys! That's why I endorse Central though because they do go above and beyond to help you succeed. When our truck had too many problems Central got us a new one. When the same things happened to that truck Central got us a settlement from Volvo and then a new T2000!
Only downfall is having to switch trucks all the time! We hated that the most! So I definitely feel for you guys.
Welcome to FL guys! Nice and warm today! Good day to go surfin!

One big problem we were having in getting our trucks fixed was that Central is one of the first companies to get those trucks off the assembly lines. So sometimes you are getting the truck before the dealership is getting the parts. Hell, they had to wait to work on our truck until Volvo sent the shop the new tool for that particular truck. It was for the injectors in which were all recalled! That was for the 07' trucks in which they redesigned them all from the ground up. You guys have a Cascadia and they have been out for a few years so you shouldn't have to much trouble.
Where you guys pickin up? -
