Thanks Chompi... I'll continue... I might not write as often sometimes, but that is usually because we are busy driving... I like those times :)

Right now (unfortunately?) I have time on my hands, so updating folks on what is happening with us. It is mostly a positive. I really do like this life style - however this last months SUCKS HIND TEATS!! Sigh... Just as I start to think .... Ahh, the truck is finally running ... Yeah, you get it.

How did you do that? They have given us some 'breakdown' pay... $450... And 'forgave' a weeks lease payment... But that $450 is now gone with the last motel visits, and its now been another week with no income... As to the costs of repairs, those have been covered by warrantee so no out of pocket there... The main financial drains are the static costs and loss of income.

if I can get them to cover lost income too... That would be AWESOME!!

Long story short, Volvo ended up giving us another brand new lemon and it literally had all the same problems plus more! Ended up catching on fire and toasted the sleeper after a complete re-wire! Guess they didn't hook up the right wires!

Anyway, it took us some time and eventually we had a meeting with Jon Issacson and that's when things went full speed ahead! We were again given another brand new truck, this time a Kenworth and he saw to it that we were reimbursed a good chunk of money that was lost due to our breakdowns. Still wasn't what we would have made were we driving and making money but it sure helped! We spent 8 months total of constantly being in the shop due to breakdowns! On many occasions because the truck was so new and it was a new model they either didn't have the parts or the tools to fix it. So we ended up either renting a car or flying home and sometimes utilizing a rental truck (Penske). The Penske rental was sometimes more of a pain then it was beneficial to us.

    Wish you guys the best...

Detroit better pony up the $$$$ for your waiting. From your posts it sounds like either bad design or bad mechanics. i am leaning toward bad design. Oh BTW you can thank the EPA for the headache...

Now you know why Cat got out of the on-highway engine market.

i sure hope we get more 'downtime' pay... I do know that the Detroit 'guy' was in communication w/the dealership... Got the truck back and they said they would be back billing Albuquerque ... It was a loose connection?? Gary tried to tighten it and thought it might be stripped... Either way, we have the truck back... Doing a local delivery while waiting for our load to get here... Then hoofing it to Atlanta GA!!

I CAN'T WAIT!! Needless to say we will be watching Matilda like a hawk!

    Is that Waltzing Mathilda?

I had a 1959 Jeep station wagon as a daily driver that I called that. She was very reliable, never failed to start. She did have some peculiarities...the driver's door would fly open making turns. I had to "stick" the gas tank cos the gauge had been broken for years. Would pop out of 2nd gear going down hills. Just a little "personality"!

    Wishing you good running miles-

LOL... Yeah, we named our truck Matilda. After Waltzing Matilda. She is carrying pur worldly possessions as we go 'walk about' :)

Our 1995 Jeep Wrangler is named George... After George of the Jungle... Watch out for that tree!!

They both have their own personalities ;D Glad to know we aren't the only ones naming vehicles!
