Well we ended up parking it last night... Exit 209 in KS... Weather Bug showed nothing, but the 'mist' was freezing EVERYWHERE! Still farting foam... Really don't like the slip & slid feels patches of ice!! Now we have blowing snow at Limon, CO and expecting it to last all the way to Denver... Hoping all of this will have passed though, so we don't have to mess with any thing but cold air between Denver and CA... OH and to top it off, we are having fun starting the truck. We are thinking it might be one of three different things. 1) Starter relay (had it replaced before under warrantee) 2) clutch safety switch 3) ignition switch... So when stopped, we have set our Opti Idle to cool the truck to 60* and turned the knobs to heat... Keeps the truck running ... As I have visions of $$ bills flowing out our exhaust... But it's cheaper than a service truck!
Going to to check what we can when we get home, but Matilda is due at the shop for her new shoes... So who knows if we (Klingon) will fix it or the shop will.Wedge Thanks this. -

Well the truck is in the shop and we are on home time... It was scheduled, but still makes things tight $$ wise. Sometimes though you just need some down time!
Matilda is is getting her new shoes, getting the none starting issue figured out and a 'B' service...
The biggy though... I am SO glad we aren't out on the road right now! What I'm reading and hearing is scary! I have a feeling we have an angel on our shoulders. -
Again I can't upload a picture, but here is a LINK.
Now that we have these, let there be no more snow!!

Ah heck! 5/1/13 we changed out the DPF filter... Thought we would have another 450K miles on it... We last night was getting the amber light... Then the amber engine light kicked on... Well it went on and off for a while... Then the regen light came on steady... Tried two parked forced regens, nada... Decided to try to make it to Amarillo (were just west of Albuquerque... Checked with them and they are 'closed until Wednesday??) but then we were getting the flashing regen light... So trying another parked regen...
So. This is where we are right now... Just put out a chunk of change for the fancy chains, now this... Welcome to the life of a L/O ... Sigh -
Did the first DPF fail or did it just get baked? I found a nice pamphlet at Peterbilt that showed all different kinds of pictures of DPF failures. I hope it will regen and there are no other problems that are causing the DPF failure.
Good luck to you guys.Lady K Thanks this. -
Maybe be some type of computer failure... QC isn't reading ANYTHING from the engine now... Ah who knows... Just praying we make it to Amarillo, then take it from there... Hoping something super simple, but you know how THAT goes! -
Well, didn't make it ... Waiting along side I-40 for a tow ... They can only tow us to Tucumcari (their shop) as a safe haven, then the rest of the way in the AM... From what he said though, we might be able to hook it up to their computer and do a forced regen there, to get us rolling again ... That would save on the tow bill that's for sure!!
Good thing is we have WiFi while we wait... LOL!jomar68 Thanks this.
