Shhhhh, don't tell anybody this but, have never been married. My function in life is.... to help keep the divorce rate down.Actually, learned that lesson from observing my dad and his 2nd wife. Gawd, but life was so much simpler then.

Klingon and Lady K, you guys are going to be just fine! All the right attitudes and expectations. You seem to have a beautiful relationship and a solid background to make it on the road 24/7 with each other. Besides, the rigs now-a-days are far more roomier than the old school cab-overs! Now that was cramped! Greet every day with a smile and the world will be your oyster! Good luck (you don't really need it, you'll be fine) God Bless and keep it between the ditches!
Lady K Thanks this. -
Little short story - before he got his Freightliner - he was driving a 1969 Peterbuilt - sometime in the morning (or after it sat for a while) it would need a 'boost' to get it started - a shot of starter fluid in the air intake... now during this time, I was going to nursing school - and was wearing my 'whites' (I should have known better) I helped him 'start' one morning - so I got up on the steps and sprayed in the starter fluid - he started the motor and 'poof' these little bits of soot came floating out of the exhast and landed all over me. Just as Klingon was yelling "don't wipe it!!" - I wiped at it - I looked like a zebra - LOL! Ah - I'm looking forward to the smell of desiel in the morning - LOL!Last edited: Jan 30, 2011

That's when you know you've got it bad.....when you love the smell of diesel fumes! I am just like Klingon. I too drove over 20+ yrs ago and I am in the process of lining schooling up to go back. I grew up in the jump seat and driving was a natural direction for me to take as soon as I was old enough. (My mom drove for over 35 yrs). My problem was I wanted to do it on my own. We had family trucks. I signed on with a little company out of Omaha that didn't give a rats patooty about you. left out in DC for three weeks waiting for a load in a cab-over KW, mid summer, broken AC where I had to decide whether to eat or shower any given day because i was loosing money by the minute. I was newly married also, so it all left a very bad taste in my mouth as I walked away and found the proverbial real job. Now all these years I've yearned to get back out there. I know it's hard and life can suck out on the road. But it really comes down to what you expect and what you bring to the table. I know there are things you cannot control. I know some a-hole who got to sleep with his wife, in his bed, at home last night will act as if I personally peed in his cheerios and I will have to grin and bear it. But owning my own truck and living MY dream, well that's what drives me. And for the record I said My dream, so those that think I'm crazy, well to each their own. Like i said before you two are great and will be happy I'm sure of it. I hope to meet some day. My wife is also looking to drive.
Klingon Thanks this. -
