Running hard is good - that means wheels are rolling and making $$ - can't wait :) I don't know about the attitudes yet (not out there), but the 'trucking industry' is a majority of males. So 'women's lib' hasn't really hit. Just take it in stride and concider the source. You and I know that you are not 'just a bunk heater' :biggrin_25525:

Nuttin wrong with bunk heaters.. a happy driver is well a happy driver :biggrin_2559:

More happy driver and just maybe we'd have more happier shippers and receivers.. not having a driver yelling at them makes them happier too..

Now I know some receivers need divine intervention to be happy (Walmart comes to mind) but ...

CONGRATS!! See you can do it!! You will be SUPER TRUCKER yet!! (baby pic via fb is sooo darn cute!!) Is your daughter and husband going to find out the sex of the child before it's born? I know many who wait now. What a way to make a good day get better!!

Yes Malowy we know your not 'just a bunk heater'. It's a hard life out there for any profession that women try to take part of. Some more than others. When I was going to school for graphic design I had one professor that like to drive female students out of the course due to he felt women shouldn't be designers. I found a few months ago a gal I work with at my retail job is going thur the same course and is getting the same crap from that same instructor. he has her so scared she won't stand up to him for failing her! I haven't talked to her due she works differnt hours than me, but I hope she took my advice to either get out while she's ahead due to the crap of baker and their lifetime emplyoment assistance and there are no jobs in this area which she plans to stay here, or if she really wants to do it, to stand up to the jerk. I did. I earned my degree, but due to the economy I don't have a job in the it. But that is not due to it being male domonated. Even at my crummy retail job I was the only one to go up with 2 other males for 2 differnt postions. The husband of a manager got the one I wanted and the other went to the other male. Just because they were males and 'heavy lifting' is mandatory for the job. Yet I do the backroom that lifts everything that these two postions do since they are based off of my current job! So it doesen't matter where you are we are going to be looked at as the weaker sex by most. Don't let them get you down! You are there for a reason and you sound like even in the wtf moments you're still enjoying yourself. that's what important. There is a new age of truckers out there and the 'old timers' (no offence to many just a way to put it) are just going to have to deal with us newbies taking over the industry. We are the ones that are going to be doing this job when they are gone. Times are changeing. Either we change with it or we get the heck out of it's way!

'Firefly' (my grandbaby) decided to settle down into her pelvis and wouldn't show off if they're a boy or girl... so we don't know yet :biggrin_25523:

Here I was all ####y and confident after passing my 'skills' test - and went out on the road and ground the gears almost as bad as my first day!! ARG!! Then I was about 2 miles from being done - and not a grind in sight!! Tomorrow is my last 'road day' until our drive test... feeling a bit on the very nervous side - but I need to relax and concentrate on the steps... I am determined though!!

On another note - Klingon is finally off his trainer's truck!! Just need to do a quick drive test/upgrade test - then paperwork - then he will be going solo until I get done w/my trainer (pending my passing my drive test)... Oh and since he is doing this in Fontana - I get to see him again :)

That helps... I will worry about tomorrow and Saturday later... bye for now...

Ya know, its a real shame when a woman can't just be shown respect. Unfortunately, you'll find that few and far between in any male dominated industry, and especially in this me 1st generation!!! I may look and I may think, but by god!!! Mamma would roll over her grave if I ever acted any more than a gentleman. I WAS taught manners by my parents. Wish more were taught nowadays.

    Rant off now and sorry.

  8. I applaud you for your manners!
I actually had to tell a "gentleman" he was being rude to a clerk at a pilot in Nebraska last night-lol, maybe not very southern belle style!
We are all trying to the same thing here, and yes the newbies are the future!
Lady k, the "firefly" will say hello when he or she is ready-my daughter was supposed to be a boy-we were really surprised when William turned out to be a Heather!

Just to show the other side of the coin, my wife was told at a truck stop two weeks ago that she should be a movie star, not a trucker. She is still smiling about that. There are lots of good people out there. Don't let the bad ones make you forget that. One of the things we liked about USX was they have over 1000 female drivers. That helped make my wife feel pretty confident.

:biggrin_25514:Good news.... its offical... I start school on March 7th for 4.5weeks lol the half is skip pad training.....the i got my choice of covenant or swift at the current moment... might be others in 6 weeks but still all is good. Also I pain to have my CDL DOT physical and drug screen done. This was cause i was worried that my medical history over the last year might bring up issues with the schools DR that does it. But I got it :biggrin_25523: cost me $125 at Concentra in Grand rapids Mich. Hey i want nothing to stop me on the journey. Got the money covered via Grants n a small loan that will help cover room n food since the school is 2hrs from home. My School for my CDL is http://www.internationaltruckingschool.net/. I get all Hazmat/endorsements, Passport and Skid pad training in a 120hr course.

Over all today has been a good day....
