Ok if either of you are NFL or NASCAR fans then get Sirrus. If you are NHL or NBA fans get XM. Unless you want to pay out the butt for the best of package. I didn't and got Sirrus. Only thing I want for my truck now is a blu-ray player. Got everything else.

Hearing a couple of the 'safety' people talk about the incident - there wasn't a 'hill' in site... there were at a loss to what caused the flamage.

I'm sorry to hear about your trainer, Lady K. Keep the faith. It may work out OK. Just remember to speak up if something's not to your liking.

Oh I will!! I've read enough, and heard enough to know I won't put up with too much. Now I realize we will be strangers to each other and I will be living in 'their' home... I will be as respectful as possible to 'their' space. However I will also stand up for myself too... (so I say right now, before I get out there)

I never doubted that you would get your CDL. Way to go. All you have to do is get through the training and you'll be home free. Don't forget who will be waiting for you when you're finished.

That is SO in my mind!! I can't wait!!

As for the bed, take Chromes advice. You will see what he means by using a foam mattress instead of a spring one! A lot less barfing while you are sleeping going down the road! Keeps you from getting the "nose tickles" too. That will drive you nuts!

Another thing I highly recommend for all of you is to get a 6' piece of carpeting, they have them at WallyWorld cheap. Put it in your truck and trim it too fit around the seats and shifter and such. It keeps the truck so much nicer. Do this about every three months. Just throw the old one out and replace. Think of all the peepee and poo and grease, oil, diesel, road grime, blood, spit, etc... that you step in and then get in your truck! EEEEWWWWW!!!! My wife kept a spray can of lysol disinfectant in the door pocket so when we got in the truck she would spray the bottoms of our shoes to kill the buggies! Another must have (at least for me personally) is driver and passenger floor pans. They are basically just mats with about a 1/2" to an 1"high lip on them so that mud, water, ice, slush, snow, peepee stays contained. When you go to the Streakin Beacon just toss them out while they wash the truck and they will pressure wash your mats for you too! Another little handy, dandy item is a dustbuster. Once again at WallyWorld. About $30.

Sounds like the nest is coming together nicely. Klingon make sure the shop gives you extra fluids (oil, radiator fluid, wiper fluid etc...) before you leave. Since it is already in the shop go over it with a fine tooth comb and get anything that needs attention taken care of. Also make sure that when you sign off on your check off sheet for the truck that you mark off and indicate any single little scratch, dent, nick etc... Any damage possible that you can find on the truck make sure that you document it so that you are not charged for it. As a team you want to make sure you really get everything taken care of during your shop time. It really hurts you as a team to have to stop and get stuff fixed. We would try to let the little stuff accrue until we had something major then we would get it all taken care of at once. When your truck is done BEFORE you get your preplan/load take your truck out for a spin and make sure your alignment and balance is kosher. If there was front end damage done it may mean your tires need attention. Make sure your chains are all tangled and accounted for before you take off! Check your glad hands too. In the winter time they can go bad. Make sure they are not brittle or cracked. Rubber seals all intact?

Sorry to blab just figured I would throw out some ideas to save you time.

Thanks for the info.... I like the carpet idea, I was out and about today looking for carpet.
I have a DeWalt 1.5 gal. shop vac that I am going to be picking up on my next visit home.

I spent about an hour and a half going over everything I could. I am having them replace a couple of tires, a wide angle mirror and the tail light bracket. As of this afternoon, they have replaced everything I asked for.... They even put a brand new set of tire chains on the truck.
I noted a bunch of permits that need to be renewed too.... So I am going to get the binder out of the truck and call WV and see if I can get them replaced.
And the fun continues....

Lady K (and Klingon) I just want to chime in on the trainer thing. Although we went with a different company, US Xpress, my wife just finished with her trainer. She had a male trainer and he was awesome. They even had the chance to go by his house and meet his wife and a couple of his kids. It was a wonderful experience for her and he was a perfect gentleman. I think she made a life long friend and I cannot wait to meet him.

Called Swift recruiter today... Hiring freeze from Fresno, CA and north. That sucks for us Sacramento CA folks........ So what now? Find a second rate School to go to? Not very happy right now....

Klingon I figured you knew what was going on. Just figured I would throw it out there for others as well. I used to put my big shop vac in the middle of the spare tire on the catwalk. Fit perfect.
