I agree, get out there and see places. Its a big and wonderful country out there and is worth checking out.Being a team might be harder to do but it is possible.
You both should be getting hrs back at midnight its possible to run your 70 out but its usally because you home time is giving 0s back and you ran hard.I just had my 1st 34 after 6 months.Good luck guys and have fun.

    GRRR - two things

    1) We dropped in Logan UT (not a problem there) and noticed the padding between our fuel tank and the support straps was coming out which equals a loose strap... the shop there in UT (after waiting for 4-5 hours and me having to ask when we are going to be checked out because we have a load to pick up) said it was OK to run with it like that and to come back on Tues (since the next load we are on goes from UT to NV back to UT) and get it fixed then... Gary is like no way - and I do see his point - it is OUR neck and OUR job if anything goes wrong with those tanks... so he said - just slip the gasket back in and tighten them up - they did and it took them all of 30 minutes to do... why didn't they just do that in the first place instead of saying that they couldn't do it until Tuesday when they could order the part (gasket) from Kenworth??

    2) Smith Foods - that is where we are at now... GRRR!! We swung by here last night (on our way to West Valley) because we were told that it was a 'loaded' trailer - we the office wasn't even open until 0600 - so after our wonderful night with the shop, we got here at 0615... nope - not ready yet. Now this load (with stops) is due in Reno/Carson City by 1900... 550 miles mind you with our truck governed at 62 and snow on the way... Long story short - we are still waiting and its 1245...

Walmart vs Smith's - - - not sure which one sits highest on the loosers pile :biggrin_25510:

Good call on making them fix the gasket. Isn't your delivery time adjusted for a late pickup? (we do not run refer)

The stores were called and told that we were going to be late... but the times were not changed....
That way they don't have to give us the "on time" bonus....

Well I am setting in Iowa. Oil pressure is running normal. But the red light and alarm come on for low oil pressuer. The guys in OTRM says my oil needs changing... I still have 6k left before I need my "B" Service. So I am going to spend $200 for an oil change and see what happens...
"I love my job... I love my job.... I love my job..." hummm.... nope I still don't beleive it.

So appologies for the 'untrucking' stuff in there too :)

    *****************************************************

We are at this time in Union Springs, AL - sitting at a chicken processing plant. Our load won't be ready until 7 pm and we are here early (which is another story all together) so we went out for lunch. There was a local 'grill' just up the street (recommended by the guard at the guard shack) and so that is where we went. I have never had 'fried green tomatoes'. I've heard about them, but never remember trying any. They are really pretty good. Thank you Alabama for providing this experience!!

Sorry about the lack of 'blogging' - when we are sitting still, its usually when we both are trying to grab a bit of sleep. Sleeping in a moving truck is do-able, but really sound sleep only seems to happen when the truck is still. Also trying to use the computer in the moving truck is a trick - to I'm taking advantage of this 'still' time and typing :^)

Yes I'm still glad we chose to 'semi - retire'... it is an adventure/journey I wouldn't trade in. However some of the more irritating aspects are starting to raise their heads. Such as 'the company' and their 'repowers'... we I guess it was OUR fault for not thinking it through also. We had a nice load set up by our DM (whom I really like) but it wasn't due to load until the next day... while we found that out, a note went over the Qualcom (dispatch's way of communicating w/the drivers) that a 'repower' was needed on a 'hot meat load'... so we wanted to stay moving and decided to jump on it. We should have let it pass... not only did we get the loads (one extra stop) there on time and then have to wait on the unloads - but this next load had us waiting and we are still waiting!! We don't get paid to wait...sigh...

I am so proud of my daughter - she is doing really well with this pregnancy. I gained 100+ pounds when I was pregnate with her, she has only gained maybe 15 pounds and she is 8 months along!! AWESOME!! I was concerned because with Gary's and my eating habits, we taught her well. No signs of high blood pressure or gestational diabetes (thank you God!!) - and she has been watched closely for those. I really wish I could be and have been there for the shower and --- oh just all the little things that go along w/being pregnate - cravings, watching the baby move, stuff like that... I understand why we can't - but I want both - LOL!!

We are still bouncing the thought of going 'Owner/Op' and leasing a tractor w/'the company'... but it wavers back and forth with how we are feeling about the company. Some days we are like "Ok lets do it" and others are "I can't wait for the year to be up!!". So for now, we are company drivers - getting our minimum of one year experience in - and seeing where we go from here.

Well one place we are going is up to Detroit MI again - that is where this load is going :)

    Wedge Thanks this.

That would have been cool - but yesterday we were in Alabama - getting ready to pick up a bunch of chicken... The Central T2000s all look alike - but we have a couple plants on our dash. LOVE fresh basil with our cooking :biggrin_25525:

    The next.... errrr adventure.
A few days ago, the red light for the oil pressure gauge came on and the alarm. OTRM's answer was to change the oil.
Well it started again this morning and after playing games on which dealer to go to, we ended up in Louisville. Then after dropping the trailer and checking in with the service department, they wanted me to go to Cummins. Well needless to say we are still here at the dealer.
Now we are getting repowered by a team that has a trailer that is having break problems.... So we now not only have to wait on the truck, but the trailer too, when it gets here.
The other team is delivering their load at 1300 and they are not going to be here til 1600. So god only knows when they are going to get the trailer fixed....
