Or you can pick up those little books in a TS and see what they pay. Those numbers aren't off the speedoometer, yet folks will tell you "I get .90 plus fsc"

Yeah, I know. Its stupid. We figure everything by hub miles. Its the only way to get a realistic idea of what the load cost vs pays.

Have to do it off actual miles, or you won't have an accurate figure for the real operating expenses. :biggrin_25513: That's the key to staying running or shutting down!

    Most drivers have no clue.

Look at the company driver getting .27 per mile on HHG routing and then they tell them where to fuel which is off route.

You best use Hub miles.....We're not allowed to guesstimate our taxes.......
I want every penny coming to me....You can bet the government wants theirs.....And guessing might get you in jail......

I'll take a load for .90cent a mile if its 2-5 skids...what you need to understand is some brokers/shippers build the load wrong some shippers want exclusive use of the trailer even though they willing to pay 2k from LA to Atlanta for 1 skid....you gotta be outta ur mind to load one skid and roll with it like that.....like I said most of my backhaul freight is consolidated that is why my guys average 1.80-2.20 a mile...I could care less if you believe me or not...Customers like Starbucks will pay 3k from WA to TN for 2-3 skids that doesn't mean I roll with 3 skids...if the customer tells me he wants to move 30 skids of frozen yogurt I'll give him a rate of 2.20 a mile....but if he tells me he wants to move 2-3 skids of yogurt i'll tell him 1.40 a mile and fill the son of a b$%^# up...If i'd be hauling freight for dollar a mile i doubt my owners would wanna stick around especially with their big ### house payments and freaking hummer payments.

have had a few discussions with O/O's who use dispatched miles in their calculations. And likely they have no CLUE of the Per Mile Costs are and what the min % they can operate over their cost to still be around next year.

That might work for dry boxes or reefers......

90% of the time with a skateboard....The shipper uses the entire deck......

I have seen shippers who refused to pay a TL but an LTL rate for a load that took up the whole deck but the product net was only 20K........

For some reason...unless you have at least 48K on the net....Some think they're getting cheated....

Now I have done the other extreme a few times.....I had a load of conduit....Well not a real load...But 26 joints of conduit and a box of parts for a rate that I had to verify with the shipper because the net was 2000 Lbs........The joints of conduit ranged from 10'-15'.....But I was paid as though if it were a TL....

My rate confirmation had the correct amount of product but stated that it was "up to" 43K..........

Basically the load was hot going from the company's L.A. distribution to Bellingham, WA distribution.....That was a nice run......

It would be nice to have a run like that at least twice a month......
