I've made a few 15 mile contacts and talked skip with the stock Cascadia antenna. Well, for the first few weeks on a new truck anyway. They tend to go bad easily. Maybe cheap coax with a thin center wire, or a cheap crimp on connector, or a combination of both. It doesn't seem to last very long.

Probably last long enough for you to take a "test drive" and see if it's something you want to put more money into or not.

It did work, but not for long. Something broke.

The therory works, but I think it was thrown out the window by ultra cheap hardware.

Yeah, they use a splitter so the CB antenna can be used for the AM/FM "music" radio. That's just a can of worms in itself. It might be acceptable for a stock CB not running power. But I think there was another part that failed even before the splitter became an issue.

I wonder how much they charged, included in the truck price, for that much garbage. :O

Lol they spent more $ building it than its worth, although a 15mi attempt was made..Wouldnt complain at all with that in a factory set up..

I think if any truck came with a 15 mile CB we'd all leave them factory. I've never gotten that far out even with a tuned setup.
