First I guess you have to determine what service or services are available in your area.

I have had Verizon and Frankly for the areas I run AT&T has more complete coverage.

So I really have no interest in equipment that would be carrier specific. The newer style data phones offer convenience at a fairly high price. IMHO. I Razor Flip has been serving my need faithfully for years. When it does I maybe forced into a purchase. Right now I would probably be inclined to go with a Iphone G4.

Opinion, inspite of the facts, that coupled with my Ipad would handle my needs.

forget about T-Mobile they suck never have service when you need it. Think about what services you will need as a driver. Mapping, Internet, Good connections everywhere, camera, Voice to text. then see who has the best services in those areas of what you need. Don't go by what people say in general, do your home work because once you have it, you got it!

There is a section on I85 I didn't have service with TMobile. It was about 60 miles.

I'm so sick of Sprint's high price and poor CS was just just about to go to T Mobile... but now? T Mobile bill would be $50 cheaper per month. I run 48 states and use my phone for browsing load boards so it's important to have good service. Any suggestions?

    Go with Verizon.

Must be a local or regional company. I've never heard of them.
Not real many choices here. VZ, Alltell which is VZ, AT&T I wouldn't know where to buy one, Union Wireless is a state company.

In this area VZ has blanketed the area.

As for the phone it self I finally had to go back to the LG 8300. Its a discontinued model for VZ but due to its popularity its readily available on fleebay. It does phone, text and pix with out problems. I had a Samsung flip that I liked but it just wouldn't hold onto a signal. It would drop a call in the middle of town or even with full signal it'd drop and then come right back to full signal. After it did it to me 8 times one day I had my fill of it and ordered the 8300 off of fleebay.
At least I have signal now.

My 2nd choice for holding a signal would be the LG chocolate III.
That model served me fairly well too. I realize these are not new or modern models with all the glitz and bells and whistles. But when I gotta make a call I want to be able to make a call.

I have a laptop with aircard that works pretty good too.

    Lilbit Thanks this.

US Cellular isn't local or regional, but they aren't in all states.

the future is Now and its called 4G! sign up with Verizon or sprint and get a new 400 dollar smart phone (samsung moment) for 50 bucks at walmart. you can text, email, surf the web, record video, watch TV and listen to free radio( no more pay radio, Sirius) and hundreds of apps powered by Google like GPS enabled directions and Google search for places near your current location. Service cost is 69.00 per month with good credit rating. It has the pwer of a laptop and the mobility of a cell phone.

I'll have to look into what deals verizon has for existing customers. Probably none.
