They would push you to be out longer because not only would you not make good money but neither would THEIR truck.... To just run Over The Road for two weeks and go home for 2 days every 2 weeks...you will not make much money, maybe $400/$500 a week. The reason being is if they allow you to come home every two weeks, they will have to keep you close to the house during the week you go home. Lets work it out... You leave on Monday, work until Friday the following week and than start on the next Monday... This all sounds great and would work on a dedicated account but not on OTR. You may get 2500/3000 miles the first week but you will most likely get 2000/2500 miles the 2nd week. At .34cpm that equals $1,020 the first week, before taxes. and $850 before taxes on the 2nd week, before taxes. Now on paper this looks ok for a newbie but I promise you, it won't work out this way. Are they starting newbies out at .34cpm now? Man, I started at .28cpm with Schneider. Have you looked/talked to any companies? You will have more luck with the bigger companies but look hard and be patient and you will find a medium company.
