I know all the wish fulfillment ways, but when I leave I want to be professional so they can't put anything on my dac. So how do you quit a trucking company?
The best way to quit a company?

Give them two weeks notice in writing. Be nice and don't say anything negative about the company or anyone who works for the company. Thank them for the experience and you "enjoyed working here."...and all that. Give them a solid reason for your leaving that is not a negative on them if possible. If that is not possible then don't say anything.
Consult your employee handbook. There may be guidelines in there. But, most of all do NOT say anything negative about the company or coworkers!

" Just slip out the back, Jack, make a new plan, Stan, you don't need to be coy, Roy, just get yourself free. Hop on the bus, Gus, you don't need to discuss much, just drop off the key, Lee, and get yourself free".

Blow lots of smoke up their butts
Just the way they used do to you
.. . . It's a good ideal to fly under the radar, this will help you take the high road out
.... It's called SERVIC
Maybe some day we drivers will have a very similar system to use before we waste time on bad trucking companies
Because of tactics like dac reports our wages have stayed stagnant( at best) for yrs
Part of watching over your cdl is knowing everything that effects it
" That's good move to make "NavigatorWife and finbyrd Thank this. -
Most trucking companies know that drivers come and go for various reasons. Always leave on good terms and communicate your intentions verbally and in writing. Clean your truck out thoroughly and take pics of the truck inside and out, and have it signed off by a shop foreman when you turned it in noting that truck was clean and in satisfactory condition when returned

When I quit the beer company I gave them two weeks and told them I wanted to try something else because I didn't think the alcohol business was for me. It wasn't really anything against them, be honest had GFS not wanted to hire me I probably would have stuck it out at the beer company longer, I don't know how much longer, but I would have stayed there longer, but that's not what happened and I went and moved my self up the ladder.

Judging by the responses, some of you guys have gotten hosed.
I've always just given my two weeks and that's that. Just do what I do and leave them a clean truck. Never a problem getting back on my last day or any other shenanigans some of these companies try to pull. -
Simple 2 weeks notice in writing will suffice, send one over the Qualcomm and by email, and make sure to get truck inspected when you turn it in and get something in writing from them (usually a checklist signed off) ..
I don't know who you work for but with my first company, after we gave our 2 weeks notice, they kept us running up and down I-5 and across I-80 for about a month and we lived in FLORIDA !.. Completely messed up our plans
The 2nd company was great and even offered to pay for my way home..Last edited: Jan 23, 2016

I say every resignation is different. If the company treats their driver like --it they don't deserve your respect. Last job I quit they had trucks that were junk and they would not fix them. They screwed you on the pay end every week. The last day I worked for them at the end of the day I walked in and gave my notice EFFECTIVE NOW. They got all the respect they had earned from me.
Face it, if a carrier is a bunch of jerks they will give a negative report to DAC. Like I said every situation deserves a different action.finbyrd Thanks this.
