I would bet that there is a better than average chance that the passenger is the main reason that load did not get to where it was suppose to to start with and the reason he decided to not answer his phone.
The BS level of this career is unbelievable!

I had a passenger for 8months. If you’re gonna be having fun that’s logged sleeper, Atleast plan your trip. I’m not saying I ain’t never made an “emergency” stop during the wee hours of the morning for some attention.
But I never had a late load because of it, both seemed to be delivered right on time.FlaSwampRat and TravR1 Thank this. -
Call records picked up the following conversation (and may or may not be true)
.
.
911 Dispatcher: "911, what is your emergency?"
OP: "There's some crazy lunatic pounding on my door and won't go away!"
911: "Do you know who it is?"
OP: "No!"
911: "Look outside to see!"
OP: "I'm afraid."
911: "Afraid of what?"
OP: "That it might be my wife!!!"
911: "We will send an officer and an ambulance to your location immediately!!!!"

Alright here's my 2 cents for the OP
Cent 1. The phone should never have been turned off, especially when you're in someone else's truck
Cent 2. I honestly can't believe such a big deal was made out of simply dropping a trailer because you ran out of hours. Sounds like a piss poor excuse to be an a hole (am I missing something here???)
Grow a pair or find another career. Shame I had to be born in 92 right after the glory days -

This sounds like old school trucking vs new school trucking. Old school trucking saying just give em the dang trailer/push on vs new school thinking of elds/ by the book.
I think the driver did just right by waiting the 10 hours out as unfortunate as it is for the 2 drivers however it could’ve been handled differently. Communication is key. While I’m on duty they have a whole 14 hour window to communicate whatever they want to me. No reason they should be hitting this guy with with the “oh yea btw” act while he’s in the sleeper. You can’t just hit your dispatchers personal cell while they’re at home late at night and try this mess. You know it wasn’t properly planned either as he said the other guys still brought him the wrong trailer.
Before my company switched to tablets we had quallcoms and it’s completely changed how I operate in the short span that I’ve been driving.
Qualcomm you could drive full speed up to 5 mins and it wouldn’t kick you into drive so if you needed to simply move your vehicle and park some where else you could do so.
Tablet on the other hand kicks you into drive the min you hit 3-4 mph or tap the accelerator too hard. So I can technically be put on duty for uncoupling.
Logically it only takes 3 minutes to uncouple so I can see why the team was mad. But lt also only takes 60 seconds to place a phone call while I’m on duty all day.
Risk going on duty and wasting your time restarting your 10 hour break just for the reward of being considered a team player by a company you’re expendable too?
Only thing I would change is looking out the window I’d rather know then be in the blindx1Heavy and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -

You have a hand that for some reason did not get to his destination and puts the load and his dispatcher in a bind looking for someone to repower the truck, and tries to call when they get the job done, so sorry, you can go with the new breed all you want their is no justifying not answering he phone, but that doesn't really matter, their was zero risk in messing up the next day, or anything else by keeping two more drivers from doing their job, and likely causing a load to be late that was apparently important enough to repower.
The mans need s to grow a pair to start with, but It sounds like he will be doing it some where else, hopefully in a new career.D.Tibbitt, x1Heavy, LoSt_AgAiN and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thank God I don't work for a mega. My boss done taught me a few things some would deem as bad habit and outlaw truckin... bet these loads are getting delivered safely and on time tho. Call DOT on me
FlaSwampRat and LoSt_AgAiN Thank this.
