Good thing the truck wasn't on fire. I definitely got some good laughs reading this thread.

The one thing I like the most about truck driving is the unpredictable. The breaking of the routine. The need to quickly adapt to new circumstances. The crazy hours. It takes flexibility. It takes cooler heads on tough shoulders. But most importantly, it takes responsibility. Better deliver that load, best if on time.

You caused all these problems yourself.
Somebody repeatedly beating on your door,
And neither you or your passenger not once
Even peek out the window to see what's going on.

What in the world did you tell the cops when you
Called them. That you were to afraid for your life
To even look out the window.
And you were parked at a truck stop.
Not on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.
    I don't get it.

Then you turned your phone off, so you missed the
Night dispatcher calling to tell you what was going on.
Then you refused swap the trailer, ruining the whole
Plan that the company had to get both loads delivered
    On time.

So you made the team drivers wait till your 10
Break was over to swap a trailer. Lol.
Man, those dispatchers are gonna love you.
You turned a simple situation into a nightmare
    For everybody, including the police.

That would be why you dont trip your drive line and dont even log it out of sleeper berth, it literally takes no more time than getting up to take a leak. This is also why ELDs are a stupid idea.

Someone banging on my door.i would have answered who the #### are you while holding my little friend. Secondly I would have just swapped trailers and been done with it. Who cares your out of hours., your in a #### parking lot. If we followed all the rules out here all the time we would all be homeless. It's not all black and white. You gotta use common sense or you are not gonna last long in trucking

Nothing ol school or new about it. Pure case of lazy dont give crap plain and simple.

When did a little work become a crime?

Windows up doors locked but scared to look out cause why? They might have a gun? So they might get shot in a crowd parking lot through the window for what? 15 cents?

What kind of life is walking around with that kind of fear every day.

You want paid top money. Hone your craft earn it, no one owes you a God dam thing simply because you were born, much less cause you have a CDL hell its obvious they are easy to get

I wholeheartedly disagree with that assessment. The right thing to do was to unhook and keep it moving. We don't necessarily know if the company knew that the load was going to be repowered. Also, what if the closest driver got a fresh clock later on in the day or night? It's not old school trucking vs new school trucking. This whole situation exhibited a driver who made this harder than it had to be. You dont follow all rules in trucking...just the ones that matter.
