    CA you say?
They let everyone just slide by. Not a care in the world.

How does getting an overweight ticket in Illinois equate to beating a speeding ticket in California?

IDK. At least these days doing 55 in Cally will make you a nuisance to ALL the other drivers. I typically run around 60ish and never had a cop bother with me and I've had many just pass me doing the 65 that's the speed limit. At 55 my truck is in 11th gear pulling about 1350 RPM. Bump it up to 60 and my truck will shift into 12th hear and purr along at about 1050 rpm. So, I tend to think I actually get better fuel milage at 60 than at 55.

One time in Palm Springs I was cruisin along at 65 and CHP passed me . I was heading east. Then another time I was heading West and got a PA warning from CHP that the speed limit was 55. I was doing 61 that time. Seems to be hit and miss on what they will let you get away with.

Yes, last time I was there I was broken down for 3 weeks waiting for a rear end. When it got there I was hot to get out of town, so I lead footed it from Riverside to Santa Paula. Once I got loaded I was a lot closer to the speed limit.
