    I wo
Being in a team truck, it's not so much a big deal for me, but speaking for all you solo drivers, I can only imagine the frustration.

I would rather wait for someone making an honest effort to park his rig, than wait for him at the fuel pump doing nothing.

Pimped out sleepers as much as I hate the term is more than what a house will cost you in some cases for the whole thing. It's essentially custom apartment back there. You will go broke maintaining such a thing without a very good reason for it's existence and money earning that is not typical trucking.

We had a home and a few acres, enough to stick a truck when home off without trouble here in Arkansas. We are a pretty free state within limitations and did it.

Company trucks are not that bad, but each has their own very particular differences in ability to maintain a hotel situation for people in weather extremes. I do not think like normal people, I think about worse case scenarios. When it's down to -55 windchill as reported by the front bumper sensor in south dakota with your cab doors somewhat leaking and the cab only 62 with the engine all out at 1500 you find ways to get warm by nesting in that sleeper.

One time in the late 80's my cabover a 83 freightliner essentially a coffin box and a dog house inside, lost it's primary heating core and began to puke green coolant fluid right out of the passenger door above the right wheel. It's -30 outside, 9 inches snow and 2 hours to sunrise. Forget the load for the time being, I found a shop with a wood stove and a truckstop that was on the way, and spent a nice day toasting in that stove chair while they replaced the core. It was a old time truck shop and they did things the old way. It would scare you to see something like that today. Too much comptuers stuff.

Or in the Sonora high summer pavement temperature is 160 air temp about 140 ambient at reefer engine on the trailer howling in high range working all out to keep icecream cold at -20 The cab inside was around 80 with airconditioning all out. Truck was 6 months old. Very new.

You think about things like water, fluids, nutrition, foods, solid litter camp toilet made for humans with seperate waste disposable kits to go with it. You had a tv, inverter, coffee pot, vcr (With tv in the 2001 era.) in a laptop computer, one was a living GPS map on the dash off it's own inverter with a coppermine III CPU (Dell) and the other was a acer for business numbers on DVD to contact any business int he USA at anytime. A cell phone. Clothing is 8 days worth including a set of extreme winter cold and extreme heat plus swimming for flood situations. (Wader)

Sleeper was a serta matress of good quality thicker than most. (You will be very disappointed to see how thin some of the #### things are.) side boxes one side is dirty side, contains all fluids for tractor trailer. Other side was clean side. Contains whatever you use around the 18 wheeler to go with the fluids etc. Spare parts. Air lines, tools.

By the time wife and I are in there we impose a 1000 pound penalty against 80000 gross weight. That meant we cannot load anything more than 48000 into the box on more than half tanks fuel (About 150 gallons) depending on what scales exist (Very few that matter) and go from there.

Today's trucks are more obese by tare weight and can only carry 45000 in the box. And include emissons. Which means essentially a form of Urine fluid goes into the container for the rig to clean the smoke. Until it puffs marbles... My attitude towards that is not in line with modern clean air thinking with those infernal devices burning down trucks at any time constantly.

I can go on and on. Many truckers have already mentally told me oh please stop typing already we know all this. But you... don.t yet.

You two think you know each other. I hope so. Because being in a space the size of a small walk in closet for a month or three will cause conflicts. Then you will learn things about each other. The pet? oh that's another problem of a sort. You cannot let it escape into certain areas of the USA because it probably will become prey. Shrugs.

I tend to go overboard in my ways. But here i still am. We got away with it in our time. Hauling very high dollar medicines which was our fulfillment. No more grocery warehouses.

And yes you may have to go into the trailer and unload 45000 pounds of meat, seafood, canned goods etc. It may get to where you don't want to see a grocery store again seeing some of the problems that go on. I cannot go into a store and pick a good can of soup without checking the whole tray of 12 cans for non-OSD (Damage) cans. When I pick up a apple and see it's from Wenatchee I know exactly where it's at. I shipped out of there. Yes it's 1.60 a pound here at home and only .30 back there at the shipper in Washington state. Going into a grocery line with apples, onions and other good things to eat by stickers is a form of memory stone for me to recall where some of these things came from. because I used to haul em. The stockers look at me funny. Then leave me alone when they understand what I do.

Sleepers are pretty nice more or less. Lesser on some company trucks. Almost disgraceful.

Get involved with this? You cannot stop. The minute you two want out, go home. And that's really hard to do.

Expenses? HA. It's bordering on 10,000 a year for the things you two will spend out here. If you have vices for gambling or other bad things etc it.s easy to lose your shirt in those places. And there you are. You will learn the meaning of mobility with finances. This isnt where you can have a little down home bank and then try to get money out of a ATM in Chicago at the Calumet Rest area. (You will be very sorry you did. 50 people has eye counted your cash before you did.)

Things get interesting. HA. I wont say it wont. Most of the time for good fun enjoyment. Not trapped in a cubicle in a office farm.

Two years unemployed and claiming to be overqualified?

    Really with two BAs?

Reality bites ... learn how to pattern your app/resume properly and learn how to hide your education, and before you reply, I have a lot more education and a lot more experience than you do and never really had the issue of being overqualified.

    To answer your question...

Yes it can be done but it doesn’t mean it should be,

The trucking thing is a last gasp for work, and of course you can do that ... the wife and pets ... well get in the road first.

    But ...

The large car or apartment on wheels (don’t say pimped out, it lowers this even more) is not the best thing to get, it is good for some but others can’t handle driving and putting them in a truck with a 120 inch sleeper, it is a disaster looking for a place to happen.
