    Mine went like this,......

Hook a single pup and drive for a bit and then swing into the clinic to pee in a bottle,........

Then head back to the terminal to hook a set and go for a drive the other direction,.....When we got back I was told that as long as I passed the pee test I would probably get the call,....I knew I was going to pass the pee test so I knew I had the job,....And that is a great feeling!!!!!

And it only get's better once your on the street!!!!

i been told all you got to do is hook a set in the yard, pull them on a route thats only about 5 miles, come back and break down the set

then hook to a van and back into a door

im still nervous though, 1 thing in particular that worries me is going over the bridge before i get on the interstate theres a stop light, and of course u have to be able to get rolling without rolling back....i know how to do it but just havent been able to practice holding the brake as i let out the clutch cuz theres no hills in the yard

ive practiced it but only on flat ground

one guy said just hit the light green!

The first time I ever pulled a set was the CCX road test. I was used to a spread axle so I was taking the turns way to wide - I never had the chance to drive around the yard first. Your test sounds similar to what I did - probably 5 miles or so through the city making some turns.

With the newer equipment, I wouldn't be to worried about rolling backwards. Our Volvo's have a real easy smooth clutch to operate - even under a heavy load the engine automatically supplies enough fuel to get going when you release the clutch. Just figure out where it starts supplying fuel, and let off the brake - you'll be rolling.

The driver administering the test will understand you're not familiar with the equipment and should cut you some slack anyway. Friday night my usual truck was down so I took a brand new one - I looked like a rookie that had never driven a truck..lol.. Just not being used to the truck I couldn't back my dolly, couldn't back my lead, once I got em hooked I couldn't get through the gears, and when it started snowing I couldn't figure out how to turn the wipers on..lol.. By then end of the night I was enjoying the truck though - by far the best truck Con-way has ever purchased. You'll be the same way by the end of your test - enjoy it and have some fun.

    Hey Jakebrake12,

I spoke with Con-Way this morning in Hillsboro, and they are taking apps from recent school grads with Hazmat endorse. Do Con-Way drivers stay out much? My email is roadmasteri69@yahoo.com, thanks
