I got lucky today. They cut 5 bills off my route due the impending weather situation, and I left the yard at 7:45. Got back before it got too bad, thank God.

    Mike2633 and double_r Thank this.

I have about 2 1/2 feet of snow in front of my house.

Friday night they shut linehaul down at our terminal and no doubt several others. Those runs are supposed to run tonight, but not if the dock crew can't get in there.

Got to visit our service center in East St Louis for the first time last night. Nothing hurries a fellow up like hearing gunshots close by while drop and hooking. Decided to scoot out asap and take my break in Illinois instead.

We're busy as can be. Today was the second day in a row they had to cut stops off my run due to running out of room in my 48 footer.

I left the yard this morning loaded to the door with 30k in the trailer.

How did they handle the snow cleanup? Did you have a ton of hassles? I talked to an R&L driver this week who said their terminals and linehaul were swamped trying to catch up out east and get all that freight back our way.

It took a couple days, but we got caught up

I figured they bring a front end loader in, and was surprised when they didn't.

I got a big laugh the other day when I handed the security guard my BOLs and he told me they wanted me to help move pups around to assist with the snow clearing.

Yeah, ok. I'll get right on that.

These routes the senors love ( they earned it ) When others do it more quicker ( It's called killing the route ) Management can speak highly of these folks all they want. Us others laugh it off and know the deal...

In other words don't kill the routes. One day will get a cushy run also. Don't be THAT guy whispering to the desk jockeys.... NOT directed at you Naptown.

I was at a customer today who said "f*** that groundhog! He lives a better life than we do!"

I just nervously agreed and quickly left. That right there was a man on the edge...

I know it's not every LTL barn, but why do LTL companies have this habit of putting some barns in the worst possible neighborhoods and parts of town.
