Bewildered...
If you and/or your husband are so unhappy with the company, why do continue to work for them?

Because right now all the other companys that he has called offer him less pay and around the same miles that he is getting now.. FYI
mje Thanks this. -
Does that possibly indicate to you that no one is getting a lot of miles these days? And that it might just be a good idea to stay where he is until things pick up a bit? I know you're unhappy but so are thousands of other wives and drivers.
Believe me when I tell you I understand about the money and miles. When my husband switched from city to road with the company he was at, they "let" him run one day a week. Just so he couldn't file for unemployment. That went on for exactly one year and one day. Union. During that time we played a lot of cards and ate a lot of Cream of Wheat and hamburger. LOL. There was noooooo money. So I know...
You might read Transport Topics every week and you'll get a view of what is happening in the industry. It's really informative and you can read it online.

So what's your point? Are these questions real or retorical?mje Thanks this. -
someone mentioned regulation? I seem to remember a time, was it late 70's, when the trucking industry was highly regulated, and the trucking companies asked for deregulation, and boy did they get it, that was when the art of trucking companies underbidding other trucking companies for freight begun, I guess someone thought that was good. Also, the trains could not haul the freight cheaper if they weren't subsidized by our tax dollars, thats right, truck drivers tax dollars subsidize the trains so they can get more freight, and the trains still cannot post a profit...
mje Thanks this. -
semicomputing, mje, Cressler and 1 other person Thank this.

Rick, you're probably right about any signs of recovery right now, although some carriers are seeing a slight increase, it's far from what it needs to be.
People should find out what's going on in the industry and as far as that goes, take a good look at the national economy before they blame any specific company for not giving them miles. As we all know most companies don't have the freight to give to their drivers. When you think about it, the company has a lot invested in equipment, etc so I would imagine that they are all doing everything possible to keep trucks moving rather than sitting.mje Thanks this. -
