That's exactly what happened to me. I was on workers comp for 2 months. I got paid but it took about 1 1/2 months to get my checks and Crete automatically terminated me after 30 days. They said it was an automatic thing they do. I thought it was illegal to terminate someone when they are out on a work related injury.

I always did my job, never late on any runs and never refused any loads.......Crazy!

Should be illegal.. The fed's should go after crete carrier.. And do something about them.. Years back when crete carrier was run by the true owner, it was a good company.. Then the old man retired and crete carrier went down..

    Bad impression!

Picked up a recovery truck yesterday (1's driving) it was dirty and beat up.. drove .1 miles and noticed right rear wheel wasn't rolling.. was on side of road in a small town and spent 1.5 hours waiting for breakdown to answer phone.. Called dispatch and guy literally said "what do you want me to do about it" I asked would it be ok to get it repaired and he told me to call breakdown and wait because he's not making any decisions. after 4 hours got problem fixed.

Next day had a crappy load with 2 stops in Chicago area.. they routed me around my ### to get to my elbow, so they wouldn't have to pay toll fee's on I80.. 300 mile trip took me 11 hours!

Today I was given a load for 280 miles.. arrived at shipper and they tell me load isn't scheduled till 6pm today.. day is now shot to hell!

I'm not quite sure! I haven't received a "welcome company message" yet! when I do I'll let you know.. I don't think they care who's in the truck, just as long as it's rolling they are happy.

Yeah that sucks. I had a hard time getting thru to dispatch also. I transferred over to Pennsylvania and got on the Port of Chester Account. That was a good account but they dropped me from .41 cpm to .39 cpm and my mileage dropped but I was home for a 34 hour restart every weekend. My major problem with Crete was when I went to orientation in Phoenix (or whatever it was) They then sent me to Georgia to pick up my truck. They didn't pay for the taxi drive to the Terminal and they told me to only bring one piece of luggage, as they will route me back to Phoenix immediately to pick up the rest of my stuff...That took a month. I didn't have but a few things I could pack in my luggage bag, a pillow and a fleece blanket....

But the company required sleep apnea test was the deal breaker...They waited until I got to Pennsylvania to assign me to the test. If I refused to take the test, then I was left to my own devices to find a way to get back home to California...the sleep apnea machine cost me $900 + $170 for the kingpin and defender lock...also $200 for the Cat 400 watt inverter which is only $40 to $50 at Pilot...

I warned some new recruits at the New Kingstown,Pa. terminal...

Having been on CPAP for over 4 years when I arrived at Crete, I told them right up front I had no intention of going through their Sleep Study, and I told them why....theirs was a crock. In the end, having called their bluff, they installed the inverter for me at no charge and I continue to use my old unit to this day. Just have to get a readout every year when it's time to renew my DOT physical.

As far as miles are concerned, I'm running very well right now, and have since I got my new AM back last October. Always home within 24 hours of requested time. But the Crete-required sleep study would be a deal-breaker for me as well. If they had required that I do one, I would have. But it would have ended there, as there was no way I was going to pony up $900 for their machine when I have a perfectly good one (along with my old one as a backup) that I didn't have to pay a dime for.

yeah, they said if I had insurance before the sleep apnea test that my med insurance would pay for it, but I didn't.. Doing the Port of Chester,Pa. was something that I liked. I did slip on some grease when I was on the chassis, plugging in the pigtail and airlines. I fell and hurt my back and was out on workers comp for 2 months. I had to take another physical to come back to work (my third physical) They told me, that after 30 days I was automatically terminated and because I wasn't current on my sleep apnea machine. I would have to come back after I was current on the machine for 12 days. After I finished the 12 days, they told me I had to take another physical (my fourth physical in 4 months)... Then after I did my fourth physical, the head recruiter said that Crete would not hire me back because in my initial hiring they said that the recruiter had asked us if we have had any tickets in the last 3 years. He said I had two tickets in the last year and because I wasn't honest about it....Crete wouldn't hire me back!

I advised him that the recruiter asked us if we had any moving violations in the last 3 years. I had two tickets but they were not moving violations. They were not points on my MVR... My driving record even today is still spotless...I believe that was a cop out. I believe they wouldn't let me come back because I warned the new recruits about the sleep apnea machine....I heard from one new recruit who decided not to take the test and work for Crete.. (still talk to him to this day) He said they came in asking about me and were mad....

I never slept well with the machine, I had the full mask because I couldn't handle the nose piece. It freaked me out and made me feel like I was hyperventilating. The straps on the mask I had wore out within two weeks (velcro) and by the time I got to the terminal and asked for a replacement. They told me that I had 30 days to return it and because it was 31,32 days. That I missed the deadline for a free replacement. They told me that I would have to buy another mask cause the straps didn't come seperate and that would cost me $200 also. ( found the straps online for $26 for two)The mask had leaks and they complained about them and I had to have the straps on so tight that I had deep inprints on my face.
I'm overweight but not by much and I have never had a problem sleeping. The sleep study test said that I stopped breathing for up to 52 seconds during rem sleep. I don't know if it's true...probably, but I could say I stopped breathing for 52 seconds even when I'm awake...hahaha.
I'm at Ruan now and doing a dedicated account going to Boston, Springfield,Ma. and Chester,NY once a week. Home every other day and a 34 hour restart each week. So all in all. I'm happy with the end results.....And I don't have to take a physical every year...

Crete goes overboard on the sleep apnea stuff. If you are modestly overweight, or more, and/or your neck size is over 18-19 inches, (forget which) they will force you into doing a 'sleep test' at one of three terminals. You'll lose at least 2-3 days doing this, and have a good chance of ending up with a CPAP machine you have to pay $900 for, and the worst part is yet to come.
You will have to get a new DOT physical before you go back to to work, and if you were diagnosed with sleep apnea, it's only good for one year, instead of two.
Then you have to maintain at least 4 hours use of the machine per day, for as long as you work for crete, or they will disqualify you for safety reasons.

I was having trouble with my cpap machine, getting colds due to the #### espar heater not working, and the jerks put me out of service for 3 days. I was not home, I was stuck in some #### truck stop.
Crete forces this crap on you, then is very little help with dealing with it. I don't worry about the sleep apnea, I hate dealing with Crete about it. The sleep apnea won't likely kill me. The idiots in Lincoln, might, though.
If you think BS and stupid stuff was bad in the military, wait until you deal with Crete carriers.
