What can a hardworking driver, rookie or veteran, expect to earn today working for Crete?

If you are a Family-Man who appreciates having a family.....$42,000 a year. If you a lone-ranger type where the truck is your mobile residence upwards of $55,000.

    mje and JChors Thank this.

Excellent numbers, especially for the lone-ranger type! $55,000 is approximately 3 times what I earn at my current job. $55,000 is EXCELLENT money!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Pie in the sky, MJE. You don't understand what you have to put up with to earn that kind of money, and the expenses of being out on the road. You won't make $55,000 the first year, and may never earn that.
Many new people get into trucking and lose money, because they have trucking school to pay for, have no idea what they are getting into, and quit the first year. If you're making $55,000 a year with Crete, (and not a trainer) you're living in the truck, not taking much time off, and either have a few years experience with some other company or a few years with crete. They do not pay new drivers a high CPM rate, because they don't have to.

in business for 38 yrs. 7 yrs with ccc in the 90's. truckload carriers are by their own nature, all suck. ccc was better than the lot of them. the swift's, us express', england, werner, and so many others. ccc will take hard work, dedication and sacrifice but you can make good money there and you will get more respect and less lies from them then any other tl carrier. if you are new to the industry you are not going to make the big money to start with but if you can hang in there with ccc you will have a chance to do well. if you are a yearly job hopper, stay where you are, ccc doesn't need your crap or nor do they want it. you churners are half the problem with tl trucking and the carriers are the other half. my best year at ccc was 67k. i learned the system and worked it well to make good money and still good home time. plan your work and work your plan....that worked for a lot of us there and it can work now. good luck. decline of crete? just driver bullsh_t.

You worked for Crete in the 90's. So did I . I stayed until 2012. Crete and the industry have changed considerably since the 90's. You don't know what it's like now.

So it looks as if most feel trucking has changed since the 90's, not just CCC. What about the pay? Will CCC still start a Driver who was at his last job five or so years at .42 or so cents a mile? What about other OTR companies, will they start an exp. driver at more than CCC? Werner, J.B. Hunt, Prime, Marten, Gorden, anyone? What about US Express, Interstate, Stevens, what is their starting pay for an exp. driver. Not many solo OTR dry van trucks running cross country runs today. For any of the large company's. Do i care what color the truck is? Give me the chance to bring home the $$$$$

Doing the math tells you who's blowing smoke and who's telling the truth. The best case pay scenario below:

    28 days out per month = 4 weeks x 3000 mi/week = 12, 000 paid mi/month.
    .42 x 12, 000 = $5, 040/month x 12 months = $60, 480 per year.

That assumes getting 42 cents per mile, getting 3000 PAID miles EVERY week you're out. Only taking 3 days off a month, and NEVER taking a vacation or leave of absence. Almost no one will run like that. Most people take 2-4 weeks vacation or leave time per year, are running 25-26 days a month, and are getting an average of 2700 paid miles per week at 36-38 cents per mile. Based on these more realistic numbers (i've averaged the splits) the math is:

    25.5 days out per month = (apx) 3.67 weeks x 2, 700 mi/week = 9, 910 paid miles/month.
    .37 x 9, 910 = $3,667/month x 11.25 months = $41, 254 per year.

I've been at Crete for 5 years and have made over $50000 for the last 4 years. last year was just under $58000. That includes my 2 weeks vacation. I have been driving around 125000 & 127000 miles/ year. I am home only 3-4 days/ month though, but that has been my choice. I'm trying to get some things paid off. Just my experiences, not trying to blow any smoke.
