now I'm sure ill ruffle some feathers on this one but i feel it needs to be said and it is as always my opinion nobody has to agree with what i say and if you don't you wont hurt my feelings a bit.

now Ive made some pretty harsh comments concerning the DOT and it what I believe and Ive had more then y share of run ins with them started back when they were the ICC and by the way Ive won more then Ive lost.

but in fact a DOT officer is a cop and no cop as far as business is concerned is your friend but be that as it may they are in fact a cop and most now days are federal cops they have the authority to enforce not only state law but federal law as well.

now these guys in all fairness are working for a living just like you and i the difference is we try to make money for ourselves and our family, they try to take it away from us and they do a good job at that.but there doing what there told and if they don't some one else will.

now i agree i have a bad attitude when it comes to anyone trying to take my money don't care who it is including the DOT . for example when I'm driving my truck down the highway and a DOT COP pules me over for a road side inspection with no case for the stop, don't care what anyone says its wrong. if I'm not breaking any law leave me the hell alone but do they do that no they do not they stop you anyway and its still wrong.

now i no a lot will not agree with me but bear in mind I'm an old outlaw when i started nobody liked them and i still don't because there trying to take my money under the pretense of law i don't think its wright , can i do anything about it , no i can not except go where there not and thats what i do.

they do all this in the name of safety, what a crock, a good example is the proverbial log book it was a farce when they first made the requirement and nothing had changed its still a farce hell they cant even decide the best way to use it . but we have to use it and pay a fine if we don't i cant speak for everyone but i no when I'm to tired to drive.

and yes i no that there payed to enforce the laws that are handed down to them and if there a DOT OFC. he has no choice , and that is not the problem its how they enforce them, if a man is doing his best to make a living and he is doing nothing wrong leave him the hell alone to do his job, and lose the attitude your a cop not a god.

now there are exceptions i realize that there are a few that do there job in a professional manner and for the most part those few do a good job but the bad make up for it. and by god there are more bad then good .

enough of my rant, my opinion matters little any way.

    happy trailes to all.--southernpride:biggrin_25516:

The Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) is a separate organiztion than the earlier Office of Motor Carrier (OMC), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The OMC was responsible for safety and the ICC was responsible for routes and carrier authority. On 01/01/2000 the OMC was dissolved the the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration was concepted.

Not true, a roadside inspection is typically performed by a state officer enforcing state regulations. States adopt the Federal regulations to receive grants and have the capability to enforce the regulations.

As a federal inspector I work the scales as I have no traffic enforcement jurisdiction. Once the vehicle is stopped by the state I am capable of perfroming the roadside inspection.

    Be safe.

    Holy S! No, it hasn't!

This rant was brought to you by "Hooked on Phonics". Apparently, even at 65 years old, you still need it. Reading that post was as painful as taking a catheter in the wee wee. Please, go back to elementary school and learn how to spell and use proper punctuation and sentence structure. Then, when you and the other 10 year old's have 6th grade graduation, the news can do a feel good story about the old guy who finally learned English after speaking it all his life.

I just want to know, when I go by the scales and the sign says CLOS D, can I stop and give somebody and outrageous fine and ticket for not maintaining their lights?

Better yet. How about when the scale has 2 signs. One saying closed, and the other saying open. And they're located right beside each other. :biggrin_2554:

This is very common on Hwy 98 at the MS/AL lines
