The only ones who should really fear this technology are people who drive for mega fleets with many set routes.

I dont see open deck freight going automated anytime soon. Too many complications that requires human alertness and awareness. I retire in 12 yrs,.. I doubt any of this will happen in under 20yrs. So,.. dont hold your breath.

Automated trucks can only drive on the freeway. Once on city streets the computer can't handle that and a real life driver has to take over. It's going to take decades before they figure that one out and even longer to have it regulated. And even then, one automated truck crash that kills someone and industry will come reeling in those trucks because the lawsuits will be too much.

Drivers have nothing to worry about. At least for another 30 years. After that. Well... maybe.

Honestly I think there is a better chance that all freight will eventually be moved through the air with super sized drones. They will argue that it is safer and will remove MOST truck traffic from the highways. It will be cleaner and more affordable once the big companies take over. I think that is more realistic in the next 10-20 years than say, automated trucks.

Let see this truck unload 58,000 litres of fuel! And then back out onto the highway cuz there is not enough room to pull a b train through the station!!
