I know it's a popular topic in every trucker forum on the web. (TMC or MAVERICK)
I've held a CDL for 6 days now and I have prehire letters from both companies, I'd just like some insight.
Live 45 minutes west of Dayton, OH and I use to be a crane operator loading and unloading these flatbeds everyday.

I'm just wondering are their any company boys close to me that can relay hometime and mileage info based on my area?
By that I mean what's the weekly take home, say your 2nd month in?
Also which driver is getting the most hours home on weekends?
I'm leaning towards a career with Maverick, but TMC has alot of great qualities that I don't want to over look.
I've also heard Maverick has the best of the best FM's

Any light that can be shed would be greatly appreciated!

I live in Troy, OH. Pull a skateboard for Maverick for the past year and a half (straight outta CDL school). LOVE IT! Get home like clockwork around 6-8pm on Fridays ALMOST every week. I run on a dedicated account too. Average between 1800 (bad week) and 2400 (good week) miles per week with 5-7 loads per week. PM if you have any questions. Good luck.

I used to run an Insurance Agency there in Eaton... Driving for Maverick is WAY BETTER.

Glad to hear a success story from a local.. I know you guys have a drop lot in Middletown, does that benefit you at all living in Troy?

I have only been to that place like 2 times to park overnight. Its really small, no facilities. It is not used much. I park at the Meijers in my hometown.

But darn, Maverick's trucks don't have all that pretty shiny chrome. :biggrin_25525:

Just don't be a Maverick driver like the one my brother came across this past week. The guy nearly forced him into a bridge. My brother was in the right lane, Maverick came up alongside in the left, and drifted right, forcing my brother onto the shoulder, while approaching a bridge. Maverick driver was bee-boppin' with no idea where he was. Brother yelled at him a couple of times on the CB. This guy tarnished my brother's opinion on Maverick as a company. Before this he didn't believe they hired such idiots!!

Yeah, that guy sounds as though he does not belong in one of our trucks- if story is as accurate as you describe, which I have no reason to believe otherwise.... However, one cannot let one bad apple ruin the whole basket of apples. There are videos on youtube of TMC drivers that will surprise people. I think highly of TMC, but the guys in some of those videos do not belong behind the wheel.

Well, I was offered to come out to Little rock last week, but I had to get my ducks in a row so Mike told me to call back on Monday to see about this coming weekend.
I was down in the Hamilton area Friday and saw a Maverick truck sitting at home around 2:00p.m.
Is there any benefit to driving yourself to Little Rock? I would have to fly back out to get my truck anyways wouldn't I?

Yeah, there were a lot of us down around the Middletown area on Friday and I heard of a lot of guys getting home pretty early on Friday as I did as well. The only "benefit" to driving yourself out to NLR is that you would have a car out there to go run around in, but really not necessary. They have 3 company shuttle vans that are constantly running guys around. So you won't need your car- save the gas money (even though Maverick would reimburse you for probably most if not all of your travel expenses, up to an amount about equal to the price of a greydog ticket). Since you live over here in Ohio area, they would most likely fly you to Gary to pick up your truck and either deadhead you home for the weekend, or ask you if you want to load something (probably out of the Tin Mill- USS- in E. Chicago, IN) to take home and then deliver on Monday morning.

Maverick over TMC unless you absolutely need to have a bunch of chrome. Benefit to driving yourself to the rock is....NO GREYHOUND. I wouldn't necessarily drive my own car out there but if finances allow it, rent a car. Maverick will pick you up from the airport if you choose to return the rental car there or fly.
