I say the end of Chapter one because I know the 2nd chapter will be so much better, heck it cant be any worse.......

Anyone who has followed my prior posts knows of the bad equipment, illegal 1099 pays, 17 hour run forced dispatching, and everything else I have had to go through.

I took everyones advice and my own safety into consideration, and have flat out refused to run illegal. When dispatch would send me to Houston from Chicago (19 hour run) and my pick up was in Chicago at 10am Monday and tell me my dock appointment was 10am Tuesday I told them they better change it to 10am Wednesday because that is when I would be getting there.

So, I ran MY way - LEGALLY for the past few weeks, they tired of it and assigned my truck to someone else who would run illegal. I called and I guess they got another truck and told me to go get it and pick up 4 partials to go to Dallas. I get to my new truck, and one of the belts snapped off on the engine when I started it up.

I called dispatch, and the owner called me back and told me to just drive it anyways, see what happens. I told him flat out no. All I needed as a new driver (3 months exp. solo now) was a DOT to see I was driving without a belt or for something else to break.

I told them I would NOT drive the truck until they fixed the belt, they said that I was to do all 4 of my partial pick ups or they consider I quit.

    Well, guess I quit then.

Texted my boss I will just get my final paycheck Friday, he said "we will see about that, favor for favor"

Then he said, "Company holds back final check for 30 days in case a claim comes in, sorry. See you in 4 weeks"

I am so mad - my check I was getting this Friday was for 2500 miles plus detention pay.

I should report them to the IRS..............

But, the end of this chapter is only the beginning of my next. I am sure there are TONS of companies out there who will run me LEGAL, not insist I fake my log books, run over my hours of service, and drive broken equipment. My last truck had a horrid air leak in one of the bellows, the compressor always was running because the truck was always losing air while driving. Yeah - I drove that pile of dangerous crap over the road too.

Everyone kept asking me who this company was. Once I get (if ever) my final paycheck I will post it.

I would be talking to the labor board about that check being held for 30 days.. Just to cover my butt..

Yes there are lots of companies out there who will run you legal, but you need to keep your eye on your DAC. Sounds like this company may ding you to cover their butt.
