The fat thing needs to go

Just so you know...there are truckers here that sympathize with you and the discrimination, ridicule, and stupid jokes you have to put up with from idiots. Being large does not mean you are unhealthy, sleepy, or lack discipline. It only means you are large.

The DOT is notorious for it's ignorance on medical issues. Someone in a suit at a board meeting realizes (or was told) that truckers are sleep-deprived...duh! So they thought let's check their neck size and make them be tested (and pay for it themselves). Then we can find out who isn't sleeping right and take them off the road. Maybe we need to take drivers off the road who eat too much turkey and have high tryptophan levels, or those who don't log 8 hours of sleep with adequate delta rhythms. We can plug that ELD into your brain with electrodes! It's logical, right? Maybe we should require those who fail sleep tests to be prescribed amphetamines, eh? Too much logic can drive you crazy.

Anyway, I wish you luck. Judging by the responses here you have a rough road ahead.

What? You think it's pure coincidence that doctors and lawyers get paid so much these days? It's all about complicating the certification/training process in order to choke off the supply & cause labor prices to rise.

 

I think the whole sleep apnea thing is a bunch of BS. Sure, it's real, however for some doctor who has told someone to get a sleep study after a 5 minute visit is a joke. My personal doctor who I see regularly should be the one to make that judgement. Not someone else. Simple as that.

 

How can any doctor tell you if you have it or not unless they sleep with you?

The sleep “study” is one way to provide proof either way.

They will readjust the bmi scale chart soon. Like they did back in 1998 that kicked off all this stuff. Because they need more customers for cpap all you guys under 25 bmi will now be fatties too. Fatty fatty 2X4. Fatty fatty 24.

 

Or just eat less crap food.

 

Have you looked around lately? Every day, a majority of the drivers I see are Russian or Eastern European, Somali, Asian, or some variety of Middle Eastern or Southwest Asian. I see at LEAST two or three idiots parked on the shoulder of the interstate within sight of a ramp or rest area, squatting down taking a dump in the grass.

 

Two or three a day? You trucking in Southern California or something? I have never seen anyone doing that ever.
