I don't think that any of this is over reaction. On the other hand, you can't stop living.
Both the NBA and NHL have suspended their seasons. Major League Baseball is going to postpone spring training. Political rallies are being cancelled.
New York City has put a ban on gatherings of over 500 people or more. Gatherings under 500 people now have to divide in half the original number. The city of New Rochelle is on lockdown. Many cities are not going to have the Saint Patrick's Day Parade. And on and on.
The thing that I think is most important for everyone to realize is to not increase community spread through poor hygiene or activities that can infect you or you infect someone else.
Picking a number and not saying this number is accurate, but if 1 in 10 people will die from the disease, 100 people infected will mean 10 deaths and 1000 people infected will mean 100 deaths and so on.
They know that the virus will spread. They know the number of cases are going to increase. Between each individual person being as responsible as they can and the protocols that the government is putting in place, the objective is to keep the overall number as low as it can be until it passes. Make it more of a wave than a massive spike.
This is important not just to prevent deaths, but to keep our economy from collapsing and to prevent full blown panic and pandemonium.
I also read today that this virus can remain on surfaces for 3 or 4 hours and still be able to infect.
Hygiene is very important.Rideandrepair, Smut, gentleroger and 1 other person Thank this. -
A key point that isn’t getting a lot of notice is that it’s really important to slow down the rate of infection so that it doesn’t overwhelm the available medical resources. They’re currently having major problems in Italy with this, as they did in Wuhan, China.

I'm trying to think of 1 event that has been "canceled" so far, that I can't live without? Haven't been able to come up with 1.
I do feel empathy for those who's livelihood is being impacted economically though.clausland and gentleroger Thank this. -
They.might work with your eye wear.
I did buy a couple of bottles of hand sanitizer I use it when needed. Paint supply stores do sell disposable wear and respiratorsLast edited: Mar 13, 2020

Have you not seen the shelves at Walmart and Costco?
Think of your safety. Whats next your truck number?
Link above to a yahoo story on his wereabouts. Short version...He moved to Arizona after the riots, people kept bugging him so he dipped out of AZ an is now a very private person who wants nothing to do with a documentary on the 25th anniversary of the riot.(Was written back in 2017 the story)
Dude who hit him with the brick died a couple years back.

Reginald Denny was attacked during 1992 LA riots. Taking a shortcut off the Santa Monica Freeway down Normandie Avenue was nothing out of the ordinary for 33-year-old Reginald Denny.
