The food is killing us!

Thats Good Driver, A lot of Drivers are finding out, that with a little extra time, they to, can shop at grocery stores, and cook great healthy meals in the truck, I did an OK job, veggies, and such in the truck, but never went hardcore. but still tried to eat healthier meals at the T/S

 

Foods to high priced and greasy. ugh!!! I leave the house with the fridge full and supplies in the cabinets. It's to exspensive to eat in the truck stops and the quality is almost not there. My little boy can do just as good a job cookin as they do.
I will go in and hit the salad and fruit bar though. To hard to carry alot of lettuce in the truck. I'm like a rabbit, love it

 

I know there are things you can do to take food from home and the grocery store on the road. There are refrigerators and cooking units out there. I'll look around and see what I can find.

 

Try sticking to a 900 mgs of sodium or less diet at a truck stop. You'll come out with a bottle of water, and a banana or a waxy apple. Why do all truck stops only seem to sell those two fruits?There are other seasonal fruits available.

 

I try to eat at Subway. Lots of Pilots and Loves have 'em and they are much better than the "microwave meals" or the questionable buffet food. I also carry food in the truck.

 

I was at the T/A in Knoxville the other night and saw that now, you can get "All you can Eat" of any menu item! ARE THEY TRYING TO GIVE US CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE!?!?!?!

 

It's a conspiracy! All the truck stops are owned by terrorists, doing their best to kill us off, thereby halting all shipments of freight, and bringing America to its knees!

Of course, the above was posted "tongue-in-cheek," but sometimes, I really have to wonder...

But then truck stops are like any other business that believes they have a "captive clientele." They are going to maximize their profit, and cut their losses any way they can.

I believe that their motto is: "We've upped our profits, so UP YOURS!

 

I drive a day cab,if I don;t bring a bag lunch,I like to stop at Popeyes.I like Popeyes,but Popeyes doesn't like me LOL

 

Most of the time I have my own food with me. Thursday this last week I didn't and stopped in McDonalds. I forgot how that food doesn't agree with me. Over $4 for just a sandwich. Then they charge me a take out tax on top of that!

I have found the Kwik Stars have a lot of fruit and things other than deep fried junk.
