So beverage isnt the worst and isnt the best. When i get otr experience then just apply to food first if there is an opening near me

Yeah I guess, I mean don't over think it, you probably don't have to go OTR at all truth be told, OTR might pay more, maybe then a beverage company, but remember this OTR has costs of living associated with it, where with a beverage company you can pretty much live the exact same life you have right now.

Just because a job pays more doesn't mean that's the right job for you, like Oversized Load Heavy Haul pays pretty good, but I know that's not the job for me so I don't do it.

I would forget what they say and just start applying to these local places when the time comes and see what they say. OTR companies play a lot of games and have goofy policies so see what comes up and take what you can get and be grateful for the opportunity.

Well change of plans ive talked to the hr manager at wood fruitticher in Birmingham who has a drop yard here in meridian. He told me get my class a license then apply if he's still hiring depending on the number of applicant's he may hire me. He told me that food service companies as a whole would rather hire someone with local experience from beverage, ice plants or similar doing local delivery. As an example hed hire someone with 1 year of local experience over someone with 3 years of otr experience unless it was a shuttle position

I started and got my cdl through Pepsi, then went into food to make more money. Majority of my co-workers did the same.
OTR is completely different animal. Maybe it's for you, but I have no interest in sleeping at a truck stop every night. I'd rather work.

So apparently a tropical storm came through central Florida yesterday. I had no idea.. I dispatched at 5:30pm and drove up to Jacksonville. Went through some rain but nothing too bad. After I finished my route, I checked my social media and it was full of pics of flooded parking lots and such. I didn't feel a drop of rain all night

My plan so far is to start in food and or beverage. I talked to wood fruitticher hr manager and he said he'd take me out of school unless he had applicants with food or beverage experience. Also gotta brother who will hire me at 12 an hour for concrete

Don't get me wrong OTR has its downfalls but it also has a lot of perks. The places you see and things you do are awesome. It's given me a lot of life experience. After a week or so I would find my rhythm and actually enjoy pulling into a truckstop and grabbing a shower, food and then just watch Netflix before bed. I miss it in some strange ways

Actually plans have changed local coca cola distributor said they'll most likely take me. They'd take me right now with just my permit but ive already paid for half of school so ill just get my training thru school then go to the coca cola distributor. It allows me to be home and be with my grandmother
