The Food Service Rant thread

From what I gather, it seems foodservice tends to stay busy year-round like the previous posters have said. But at the same time, I would suspect one has to be a real people-person and a diplomat to be effective at both a foodservice or a PnD job. Probably explains why I chickened out of the McLane offerings(apart from their split days off) and long for that ideal, line-haul gig.

 

I don't mind the people thing heck working retail and fast food prior to getting my license taught me how to handle people

 

Anyone know any good food service companies around Memphis

 

That big of city all the main players will be there us foods sysco mclane reinhart pfg surely one of them is hiring

 

Yep us foods, sysco, pfg, reinhart and mclane. Plus a few smaller companies metro foods in olive branch, iwc and gallers food. Of all of them who would you recommend

 

Well I work for us foods but sysco is also good mclane makes a lot of money but it's teams the only one I would stay away from is reinhart but down there they might have there crap together idk up here they have lost a bunch of accounts and they guys are starving for routes and money

 

Actually the mclane routes around me say local and home daily so im assuming its not teams. Even if it is then so what its an extra person to help unload. What you know about pfg

 

They are paid piece pay I think it's a pretty good gig they don't do much around me but they have a lot of overnighter routes they are the 3rd largest food service company's in the US if that means anything

 

I guess I'd have to call mclane and find out but on the ad it says local set schedule 4 days a week 3 days off. Sounds similar to sysco and us foods. The ad in brookhaven is for mclane southern delivery driver thats teams and overnight

 

I just found a website for mclane actually that tells you about the individual locations and routes at each mclane dc. The website is joinmclane.com. It'll let you look at each location so you have a basic idea for the location you're applying at
