I had a shot at a private fleet driving for Casey's. I didn't like the 4 on 4 off. They seemed to me like the drivers hours got cut going to this. I really wanted away from LTL linehaul so I thought about it for a while. Casey's pays the best in my area. Hucks private fleet and circle K are a close next but circle K has only 2 drivers 1 truck in my area. I ended up getting a position with KAG. They trained me. Got carded in at all the racks. Pay is decent. $30 hour nights or 34.75 for weekend guy OT after 40. The thing about KAG being common carrier we have so much #### and guys can work 60-70 hours if you want to. There's always something to do. Raise rumors floating around sometime soon so we will see. I figure get a couple years in and then if something better comes along I will have some experience. It sure beats linehaul and no driver facing cameras is a plus.

You can expect driver facing cameras at any of the fleets that have their own stores. Pilots cameras were quite sensitive and annoying, they would go off by literally scratching your back. Never got written up or anything but Geminis cameras are way less sensitive.

It takes 6 months on average to get a consistent rhythm in crude to where you make any consistent money at all, and that's if the oilfield you're working in stays consistent throughout the year which is rare.

Vast majority of crude jobs are by the mile/load, and when you breakdown how much they have to be off road, chain up, and aren't moving, they make at best 85% of what fuel haulers make for a hell of a lot more work.

I declined a job offer from Plains All American when they refused to show me any sort of proof that their most productive guy was making anywhere near their advertised "$130k".

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I’ve had a total of three jobs with inward and outward cameras. Got coached a total of two times in about 10-11yrs. As long as you do your job you’ll be fine.

Yeah I ran base oil out of the ports of Long Beach and LA as my first tanker job. Man I hated oil, dirty #### is heavy and gets everywhere. We were also paid by the load so yes lots of ups and downs.

When I moved onto fuel working for 76/P66 private fleet we had crude haulers who were paid by the load same as Arco/ marathon now. Never wanted to go back to oil though, it was my least favorite out of fuel, chem, cryo.

Yeah I've had people tell me i should get i to cryogenics but the Airgas guys near me don't make near what I do at loves, and I ain't going regional again. If I wanted to i could do sleeper work for loves and easily make more than $170k a year but an extra 40k ain't worth being away from home imo.

I hear you on that, cryogenic pay is all dependent on location unless you wanna do teams they will pay over 200k per driver but ain’t nobody trying to do that. Fuel is my second favorite out of tanker work I’ve done, and the pay around here has finally caught up to us cryo guys. For years it was just stagnant which was one of the reason I got out of fuel. I do miss it sometimes but don’t miss dealing with the public or super tight stations in downtown LA!

This reminds me of my first tanker job, liquid asphalt. I hated top loading at sketchy plants, the mess it made if it got on anything, and trying to avoid getting burned lol. The pay wasn't great, but I enjoyed it though... It also helped driving a truck that went 75mph compared to the 62 pedal, 66 cruise situation over here.

The tightest station I ever did for you guys

    Google Maps

Inches getting in and out. Whoever put the tanks back there is a mad man.

With any luck at all I'll never do tiny gas stations again. My biggest worry is waking up the dope who parked on my drops at the truck stops.
