The way it is now the lowest price is what we start with and then the carrier has to bid the price up to an acceptable rate.

He who snatches it first at the lowest rate loses uh er wins. Huh?

 

So then your bid is too high and you never haul anything. Sylectus is not perfect and there are plenty on there who want freight covered for cheap.

 

They might already have it listed on load boards, but I would want to see the brokers credit score and days to pay. If either one didn't meet a certain criteria then they wouldn't be able to post their loads. That could help eliminate the headache of worrying about getting paid. Even though I know it wouldn't totally eliminate non-paying brokers.

Be careful, that could be a doible edged sword. What if they also post every time you are late for a pickup or delivery, even through no fault of your own, then you are not allowed to look for loads? You need to remember the load boards are paid by each subscriber. Now would you go tell your customers that their business is done here?

 

It gets a little creepy when brokers can see where you are all the time. I can't imagine the phone ringing like crazy when you cross into a new city. Most of the "good business" happens off the radar, direct private relationships with shippers.

 

I believe technology is making it easier for us. I would also like to see technology move a little faster with signing documents online. I like the bidding online, I use ComFreight.com to find loads and it's great, the fee is cheap and they have good loads. Now if they could pay us sooner, or half when we pick up the load and the rest when we deliver, that would be perfect. Keep on trucking!

 

Comfreight.com looks good. The map with weather details and temperature is nice. I just wonder how the rates hold up?

 

Hey camaro68, I would of replied sooner but I'm either driving, sleeping, or eating. I try to get the loads direct from the shippers and ComFreight.com offers that option. The rates I been given range from $2-$3 per mile. The loads are paying more than what my broker was paying me, and I had been hauling loads for that broker for 15yrs.
