How is a older guy like me that likes wrenching on his own truck cheating?

And my N-14 celect runs so clean you can’t even see the exhaust under acceleration.

But if you have a def you have to put it into hi rev regeneration mode for an hour.

How is all that excess running of a motor good for the environment?

If they wanted to start somewhere with big truck emissions and I know I won’t win over any friends saying this, but do away with all excess idling.

I see 99% of trucks idling when it is plenty warm or cool to sleep with out the truck running.

Yep. A neighbor of mine in the scrap business was buying trucks that were supposed to be completely destroyed beyond recognition. He was stripping them and parting them out instead. Had a line of at least 100 complete engines. Most of them Detroit 60’s and Cummins big cam’s and N-14’s. All had to have a 6” hole knocked in the block. Worth nothing but parts. Shipped most of the engine parts down south. He sold lots of good pete and FL air ride cutoff’s to the old school ATHS crowd.
The titles had to be sent in to be voided out and logged as scrapped vehicle in the system so you couldn’t even use a clean vin to restore a lost titled truck which is very common and legal in the restoration world.

Don't disagree, but the problem is APU's cost more than will be recovered in costs. Until APU prices go down, there will never be less idling.

In your opinion. I can't sleep when it's hot. Your comfortable 80 degrees I'm unable to sleep in. Plus when i idle it's filtered air so I don't have to smell the piss on the pavement.

They could just stop the manufactures from installing A/C’s in vehicles along with high fuel prices. Then they don’t have to worry about the freon killing the ozone or giving anyone a reason to idle. Be like the old days of trucking where truely only the tough guys were drivers.

Most of the states that are jumping on the band wagon are the cooler climate northern states that pay high gas prices allready anyway and really don’t need A/C. Let them suffer first as an experiment.

Yes this almost makes me madder than a mosquito flying around in mannequin factory the authorities clamp down on a poor truck driver for idling the engine while millions of cars sit idling in traffic every day I know which one is the great polluter.

    bzinger and 650cat425 Thank this.
