I started just calling maint., because my last two fms didn't want to bother. I was always told to call maint. So that's what I did, no muss no fuss. Get the work done and as long as I had the money in the account there were no issues.

On another note. Got a call from Springfield ThermoKing. They opened an account for me and gave me a $320 credit. They also told me the only people who will be working on my apu will be people who know what they're doing on tripac units. Maybe I'm finally going to get a truck and apu that I can rely on (knock on wood.) Now we'll see how the physical goes tomorrow.

How about just load up whatever is in the maint account? Need a starter? That's good for about a grand. Sorry, my bad, it was only half of that.

If you listen to Kevin Rutherford on Trucking Business and Beyond, talk to other o/o's in the driver's room or at the truck stops, it becomes rather obvious that at least half of the guys trying to run their own truck have no clue how to handle their business or even understand that they are in business. I don't have an issue with a mandatory maintenance fund, or that they restrict what you can use it for. My issue is that it shouldn't take longer to pay the shop, than they took to do the repair. My intention has always been to build up enough cash on hand to take care of things like tires, ordinary repairs like starters and PMs. I would like to get to a point the maintenance fund is only there for larger repairs-like radiators.

(Although I did see a really nice comfortable air seat for only $750, right color, leather, fully adjustable arm rests)
