Dan was a very good man. He was the one person at Roehl that I believed really understood our plight and really hoped we would suceed. I was saddened by this news. I wish his family the best.

Now i am having to bring it in for the truck abs light cause i wont pass 90 safety inspection.... brought to L&N here in ATL.. conclusion.. Back in March when i had marshfield check my front brakes making noise 9 part of my original inspection so at no cost to get them to do it) they took them apart and cleaned them adjusted them etc.. well one of the brilliant mechs. put a spring on backwards/upside down and it has no rubbed against the exciter ring so much pretty much destroying it. so I have to get that replaced, with the hub, and bearings repacked etc.. cost not sure yet cause they have to order the parts and wont be in till morning so I'm at the hotel but will be between $300 to $600 depending whatelse might have to be changed... Roehl's take on marshfield's mechs. causing this.. " well technically theres no real way to know what might have caused this" .. my mech.. first question asked was "did someone change ur brakes recently cause they put it back together wrong" typical to say the least.

Now you know why Etch left and I don't want Roehl's people anywhere near my truck. Roehl screws up and then won't man up.

I know this is an older post, but I had some time to catch up on my favorite forum. Anyway, personally I think it's sad to say you have to stay out more than 2 weeks or go broke.

Very true indeed, but i didn't have a choice on that one, it was part of their "new lease" inspection to fix issues without cost, but yea, all they did was cost me in the end... but typical indeed!

I agree, and i know i am trying to arrange it so i dont stay out more then 2 weeks then home for 3 or 4. if in the end it doesn't work, then other aspects will be looked at... unlike many (and its nothing against them my step dad was one of them) i drive a truck for a living its not my life. its what i do for a job.

I used to work as a Tankerman Merchant marine and would be out for 30 days and home 15 days. it was a living, and did well for almost 10 yrs with it. but never once was i like "this is my life" it was my career and i had my life at home.

Well to be fair I consider any net pay under a grand being "broke" you can still do okay going home a lot but, unlike many others this is my life, its all I ever wanted to do, and even when its going bad I still love it. Mine and my fiancee's life can't really start till she graduates law school so I'm running my butt off so that when she does I can start a home life.

I'm just the opposite. I hate driving and I'm tired of always being on the road. I have always had jobs that kept me on the road and I would love to know what a nine to five job is like. I do this to make money and no other reason. I went o/o because I know that no one else has my best interest in mind. I wouldn't trust anyone in any trucking company as far as I can throw the Blue Lemon. By going this route I put more control in the hands of the one person I trust the most-myself.

What I expect out of Roehl is not unreasonable, but they can't even uphold that limited standard. I only expect an average of 450 miles a day over a five day week. Roehl can't even give me loads to provide that average. I was home five days in May and only averaged 350 miles a day of logged miles. My total for the month was less than 6000. I am tired of the excuses. I would love it if someone would man up instead of blaming me, the economy, customers or the old standby-"That's trucking."

    (rant done, out.)
