They have been sounding the death knell of otr trucking for years. Trucking became the king of freight movement simply because it does it more cost effectively than any other method. However, as the driver population ages we want to be closer to home and the kings of the road are a dying breed. I have to be honest, if I could get an average of 400 miles a day, home at least a couple of times a week and on weekends I would take it in a skinny minute. The truth is Roehl can't give me an average of 400 miles a day even if I only go home every 15 to 17 days.
I try to stay up on what's happening in the industry as a whole and not just Roehl. Right now there aren't enough trucks to move the available freight, so what is Roehl's problem? I'm also pretty sure an increasing amount of Roehl's freight comes from brokers which would answer a lot of questions about inaccurate dispatches. I just would appreciate dispatchers being up front and honest about what is going one.

The last two weekends I'm getting stuck running all over the dang place out of first appleton now ellenwood! pickup here drop there, relay this one bring it over here each only a few hundred miles on each one.... its about to come to a halt lol.. i don't mind helping out but I'm not the "go-to" guy, it isn't worth it for me, cost wise.

I hate when they start doing that stuff, run here and pick this up, go get that mt trailer, relay this load 150 miles away... You burn up hours and fuel, and don't make anything for it. They used to do that to me alot over around the Twin Cities when I pulled flats... You would get to the end of the day and load your own load, and then be out of hours and not be able to get anywhere with it. I put a stop to it, I don't mind going after a load once in awhile, but when they try to make a day of it...

roehl needs to invest in more day cabs to do that crap...it would help if they put more day cabs in gary and atlanta to run all these short runs into and out of the city..they could make a ton if they put a terminal outside NYC and ran day cabs into the city with loads that we drop off there..makes more sense to me...but then again I am just a big dumb truck driver

My butt is enjoying being home and looking forward to some local work! Lol.
Sending apps in this week. Even considering trash hauling. Heck there is a big scrap yard here and I think a lot of opportunities. Most places want that 2 year exp. Tho... but I do technically have 3+ now just not all recent.
